The food is way too expensive and overrated for what it is. It's not bad but it's not worth 25€ for a plate. Overcooked rice, watery margarita, and so on. You'd expect better with that kind of money. The manager was really rude and petty towards us (we saw how he behaved with other clients and with us). We didn't even get a chance to tell him all this since he angrily took our plates without asking us how the food was, and the same when the bill came (it wasn't really that busy and he was friendly towards other clients). The waitress was nice :)
Update (because Google won't allow replies): I wasn't frustrated as you'd see if you were there, but your son definitely was. To treat clients petty and differently than others because they asked for something to which they have the right (a glass of water - we all know the tap water in Leuven is drinkable) is extremely petty. I've worked in customer service and even if I didn't like clients personally, I always asked them how the food was, if they want something else, etc. because that's the job and I separate my personal feelings from my job, something your manager is unable to do because he didn't get his way. The fact you can't accept a review and a personal opinion without trying to "attack" says it all. I don't think we'll come back here and we'll tell everyone how unprofessional you are because clearly, the only client's satisfaction you care about is the ones who praise you. Everyone has room for...
Read moreWe visited New Mexico with high hopes based on the promising atmosphere and beautifully designed interior. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to expectations.
The dishes lacked the bold, vibrant flavors we were hoping for—everything felt a bit bland. There are definitely some areas where improvements could make a big difference. For instance, the fajitas were served with flour tortillas, but switching to corn tortillas would really enhance both the taste and authenticity of the experience. The avocado-mayo sauce was also a bit odd; a fresh guacamole would have been a much better fit. A simple addition like a bottle of hot sauce on the table could also allow guests to adjust flavors to their liking.
Given the overall quality of the food, the price felt quite steep. While the setting was great, the culinary experience just didn’t match up, which was...
Read moreI love the food here - I've never been to Mexico so cannot say how traditional it is, but it really is tasty and varied. The chicken and cactus burrito is particularly recommended in our house...!
The atmosphere is great and the hosts are welcoming and friendly (and speak English). There are vegetarian options, and options that are not very spicy. It's a little on the pricey side, but it's well worth it for the quality and quantity of food.
My only (tiny) problem is that the combination plates (kind of like pick and mix!) range from small to extra large, and even the small is a huge portion. I would love the option to have an "extra small" plate - perhaps with less rice or fewer sides?
But for a hungry person visiting Leuven, this is really not one...
