Black Crust Pizzeria — Restaurant in Iceland

We booked a Katlacave Tour that left from this location and received 10% off for our meal we ate here. After our tour, we stopped and ate and it was great. So great that when we stopped through Vik a second time, we stopped again!

This was what we ordered and what I have to say about each dish:

Crispy Shrimps: 9/10, the Korean bbq sauce really tied the knot to make these excellent. We all love a good shrimp, but the sauce really did it for me.

Chicken wings: 7/10, we wanted something to try and we picked these. There were a nice snack to hold us off while we waited for our pizza. These wings were great but there were other tasty things on this menu that I wish we chose instead.

Black Crust No. 3: 10/10, i can’t even begin to describe this pizza. This pizza had pepperoni sausage, cream cheese, cherry tomato, homemade date pesto, and fresh basil. This was just a perfect combo and the crust was spectacular. Really loved the experience of eating black crust but also having some familiarity with the toppings. Delicious.

Sourdough No. 9: 9/10, this pizza was simple with pepperoni, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil. This was a traditional pizza and also did not disappoint. The basil was ridiculously fresh and it tasted so great while it was still hot! Fantastic pizza but did not blow me away like the Black Crust.

The premium cheesecake was delicious and the macaroons were so fantastic, we purchased them TWICE. Both were a solid 9/10.

Black Crust Pizzeria is an absolute gem! We had the No. 9 Margherita pizza and the breadsticks made with their unique charcoal dough—both were beyond amazing. The Margherita pizza was a perfect blend of simplicity and flavor. The tomato sauce was vibrant and tangy, the mozzarella was creamy and fresh, and the basil added just the right amount of herbal brightness. The blackened crust was crispy, chewy, and packed with flavor—clearly baked to perfection.

But the real surprise standout? The breadsticks filled with garlic butter and cheese and made with their signature charcoal dough, they were unlike anything we’ve tried before. Visually striking and totally delicious, they had a light smokiness that paired beautifully with the soft, pillowy texture and golden, crisped edges. Dipped in the house-made marinara, they were completely addictive.

The atmosphere was just as enjoyable—warm, welcoming, and modern without trying too hard. The staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the food they serve. It’s rare to find a place where both the quality and creativity of the menu shine this brightly.

We had a great experience at Black Crust Pizzeria in Vík. The pizzas were genuinely some of the best we’ve had — fresh ingredients, great flavor combinations, and perfectly baked. Their signature black crust pizza was a standout: visually unique and surprisingly tasty, with a nice balance of crispiness and chew. The interior has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a modern yet cozy vibe that makes it a pleasant place to sit down and enjoy a meal. Staff were friendly and efficient, even though the place was quite busy.

It’s worth noting that during peak tourist season, it can get crowded, so you might have to wait a bit — but the food is well worth it. We were lucky to find a table without much delay. Prices felt reasonable for Iceland, especially considering the quality.
