Restaurant Bella Vista — Restaurant in MZ Donja Mahala

This is the perfect place to sit and admire the famous bridge! Not only is it in natural shade on the far side of the river to most of the Old Town shopping strip, but I would argue the view from the "far" side is better. While we dined we got to witness a brave soul taking the 25m plunge! Turn right as soon as you can after the bridge, and walk past a few other restaurants into the little courtyard.

Lunch was absolutely fantastic. Our waiter was so friendly and gave us some suggestions that we would never have picked from the menu, many of them traditional Bosnian food - with the highlight being "Hercegovacki Mix" (Japrak and Dolma) that was absolutely delicious. We also tried the Bosnian Coffee and my wife had the stuffed eggplant which she would also recommend. Our teenagers also loved their meals.

🚨🚨🚨Attention SCAMMER🚨🚨🚨 They tried to rip us off by randomly putting a bill together 10 BAM higher as we ate. They don't give you a check as they ask you to follow to the cash desk the waiter just shows you the sum and ask to pay. As we left we calculated back and realized we just got scammed. We decided to confront the waiter and to show us the receipt again. He argued that he ! deleted ! (Restaurants also don't pay taxes in Bosnia?) the bill. We asked to put the bill together for a second time AND SURPRISE the real bill came together. The waiter apologized and try to convinced us that "by god" it was a mistake. (Of course... As if the guy isn't already in hell for ripping off tourists on a daily basis) He also had to give us back the tip of course. I highly recommend to involve the police the next time. I'm bloody honest - I had prejudgements traveling to Bosnia in terms of people probably trying to rip us off here and there... And it's so sad that my prejudices were confirmed first hand.

Bella Vista is hands-down one of the best dining experiences you can have in Mostar. This is my second time returning, and it just keeps getting better. The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making you feel like more than just a guest.

The food is absolutely amazing, rich in flavor, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. From the juicy grilled meats paired with fluffy bread and ajvar, to the fresh trout with local sides, every dish tastes authentic and full of character.
