We ate here twice this week… The first night we came here we were sat next to the edge by the river, the food was good, steak hot and cooked nicely. My partner had a simple tomato pasta dish but it was hot and tasty. Our only criticisms were that they had spray sprinklers (maybe to keep people cool, maybe to prevent mosquitos and the smell of the river, I’m not sure) that ended up spraying your food and drink. We also had to witness the staff argue with a couple about a side order (long story short they weren’t told their dish came with fries so ordered extra) because they had ordered it, they were forced to keep it. This we also witnessed the followed visit, someone changing their mind about a Coca Cola due to it taking longer than they wanted. The unopened bottle arrived and they were told they had to keep it and the waiter cracked it open!! Dreadful…(I’ve seen their review and it’s accurate of what occurred sadly) The second visit was poor, the Sopska salad was warm, not chilled. The same pasta dish my partner had was bland, cold and no Parmesan like the previous time. My Bosnian stew was warm but the rice cold, I had a bad stomach the next day. Waiter didn’t ask how the food was until the end. I informed him and he asked if I wanted a new one - we had finished so declined. No offer of anything as a ‘sorry’ which would have been appreciated. Seems to be a bit of a ‘hit and miss’ place. Other better options in Mostar currently.

Restaurant Divan may look polished with its modern POS system, a few arrogant waiters, and a pretty face stationed outside to lure guests—but behind the façade, it’s a disappointment. They don’t accept card payments, only cash, which feels like deliberate tax avoidance. I rate them a single star just for that shady practice—this is exactly why a country can’t even maintain its rusty “bridge grill.” As for the food: we ordered both fish and meat. The fish was completely bland, served without proper marination. The meat arrived undercooked, which made it unpleasant and unsafe to eat. Service was even worse. One waiter dismissed me outright, saying, “I don’t understand your English, someone else has to talk to you.” Such arrogance is unacceptable in hospitality. Prices are far from cheap, so don’t expect value either. Sure, you get a small view of the bridge—but you can admire the same view for free without paying for overpriced, poorly prepared food and insulting service. Avoid this place.

Our first meal in Mostar was a great start to the trip. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and serves excellent Bosnian food. We tried the creamy chicken and vegetable pasta — the creamy chicken in particular was a flavor hit and instantly impressed. Service was fast and straightforward, and sitting by the river with the small bridge added a lovely touch. It does feel a bit touristy, with staff encouraging you to come in, but the food and ambiance made it worthwhile. Prices were cheaper than in Dubrovnik, which was a bonus. The toilets were a bit untidy and lacked tissues, and you need to ask at the counter for the Wi-Fi password. Since we don’t eat beef, there weren’t many options to try the traditional Bosnian dishes, especially the grilled specialties, which felt like a missed opportunity to sample the local flavors.

We were looking for a place as most were fully booked, while this was pretty empty (this already says it all). It’s kind of a tourist trap: meat was nearly cold, bread was very stale, plate did not come as pictured in the menu (sides were lacking). All came to a price which you can get way better food for in the city. Actually, the personnel was very uncomfortable to speak with. As we found a piece of plastic cloth fried with our French fries we received almost no apology, and as we demanded for a non-opened bottle we ordered to be brought back that was apparently not possible (never experienced anything like this). We asked for a final drink which came well after we had already finished eating and as we decided we did not want it anymore because we were finished they also refused to get it back answering “you pay, it’s a restaurant”. Honestly, enlightening exchange. As we go to pay we are told we have to pay cash only and we cannot split a bill. Overall bad experience, the only good food was a Greek salad as the rest was stale/not prepared on the spot. As I said, if it would have been cheaper, or if the personnel more kind / understanding / responsive / professional, there would have been no need for a bad review, but I guess none of these boxes were ticked. Highly unrecommended. (Beautiful spot but there are literally hundreds of places around it with even better views, this was not even on the main river). Only good note: the cooling water that was sprayed very close to us on...

The restaurant is right next to the river, the menu is very rich, I have nothing to say about that. Before we left, we wanted to pay the bill with a card, but the waiter advised us to pay in cash because there would be a commission, which made sense, so we accepted. When we asked for the bill, the waiter gave us an amour that was 10 Euros more than the amount we had calculated without giving us any receipt. At first we thought about it, but we said let's pay it and we'll recalculate it later. After we paid, we recalculated it and we were sure that we paid 10 Euros more. When the waiter brought the change, we told him that there was a mistake in the bill, he paused, then recalculated, went back inside and came back and apologized for his mistake by bringing us the receipt he had correctly calculated and cut out when we asked for the bill. We think he had ulterior motives because we were not encouraged to pay by credit card, and when the first bill came, without any receipt, the waiter showed us the amount he had calculated on his phone calculator. I don't recommend it if you don't want...
