I'd heard about this place in some blog before visiting Sofia and marked it as a must-try breakfast spot.
The location overlooks a gravel parking lot surrounded by massive graffiti-painted walls. This isn't your pristine, Instagram-perfect breakfast experience. The restaurant itself has a very cool vibe, but it's far from modern. Young travelers would probably love the authentic, edgy atmosphere, but it's important to set expectations correctly.
We found the interior too dark for a sunny day, so we opted for outdoor seating. The ground is somewhat uneven and you'll have cars coming and going from the parking lot, which disrupts the chill factor you might be hoping for. HOWEVER, the service was incredibly accommodating and friendly throughout.
The food completely redeemed the experience. We tried different egg dishes and they were beautifully presented and genuinely delicious. The coffee was also excellent quality.
While there's definitely room to improve the overall dining experience and ambiance, the food quality is undeniably very good.

Read moreI’ve recently traveled through Albania, Romania, and Northern Greece, sampling breakfast and brunch spots along the way—and Izzy's Coffee & Brunch in Sophia is hands down the best I’ve found in all three countries!
From the moment I walked in, the cozy, welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. But the real star of the show? The food. The brunch menu is absolutely incredible—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re craving, perfectly poached eggs, or a hearty avocado toast, Izzy's delivers perfection on every plate.
And let’s talk about the drinks: the coffee is rich, smooth, and expertly brewed, easily rivaling specialty cafés in bigger cities. The freshly squeezed orange juice was so good I ordered a second glass—it tasted like sunshine in a cup!
The service was also outstanding—friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything right, but Izzy's does.
If you’re in Sophia, do not miss this gem. I’ll definitely be back on my next trip—this café alone is worth returning for! 10/10, no competition.**
Best brunch in the Balkans?...
Read moreWhile traveling, we arrived in Sofia quite early in the morning (about 09:00). We were warmly welcomed into this beautiful little cafe by a very friendly Bulgarian woman who I can only assume is Izzy (the namesake of the cafe). She had recently made wild cherry infused rum which she used to make me the most delicious daquiri that has ever graced my tastebuds. On top of my morning cocktail, the food was excellent in both its taste and presentation. I indulged in the American French Toast and my travel companions ordered the Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine, and Shakshuka, all of which were enjoyed thoroughly. My travel group was so pleased with the meal and the atmosphere that we returned once again in the morning of the day that we were departing the city. I would recommend this little cafe to any travelers or even locals for that matter and would dare to say that this small gem of a cafe could’ve been the highlight of our stay...
