Worst place I've eaten at in Siem Reap. I'm leaving this review not to rant or whatsoever but I will not let it go when someone who think he is the boss can just treat people disrespectfully especially when it is my family. We sat and ordered our food (1 thosai, naan and chicken kheema and 3 drinks but only 2 drinks were given to us), waited for at least 10 minutes or more and asked the owner(blue shirt guy) nicely how long our food will take to be ready as we noticed the tour group who came after us was being served food before us. However he started talking to us rudely. He even asked if we read the menu properly which he said he had written waiting time is 10 minutes(we waited more than that). When we mentioned other restaurants did not have rude owners such as him, he asked " then why did you come here? You can go there." In our defence we said we wanted to try their restaurant only to get a "don't come here again. Eat and leave." Reply from him. He was literally shouting at us in the restaurant because he said he was fed up. He did not allow us to finish our sentences and always said "no you listen" whenever we tried to explain something. When i finally told him to let me finish what i had to say, he showed me his hand/palm and said "nevermind i don't want to talk to you. Eat and leave.", while walking away from our table. Throughout the argument his other older aged staff was trying to encourage him not to shout but he continued like it was a rap battle. Another kind young male staff tried to persuade my mother to eat who was already upset with how we were treated. Truly worst dining experience ever.
Food was not that good when it comes to taste wise, we only took 2 bites of it and was being watched/stared at hence we decided to leave. How is he even the owner? Give the restaurant to your better well-mannered staff to run the business.
I highly recommend Curry Walla instead. All the staff there were so welcoming and nice not to mention their tasty food too.
Would give this Vanakkam restaurant 0 stars...
Read moreAs someone who has experienced chicken curry in numerous countries and various locales within Cambodia, I approach each new restaurant with a blend of anticipation and a seasoned palate. During my recent visit to this Indian restaurant in Siem Reap, I found their rendition of chicken curry and garlic naan to be commendable.
The chicken curry struck a good balance of flavors and spices, showcasing a level of proficiency in Indian cuisine. The garlic naan was well-executed, pairing nicely with the curry. While there are always nuances and room for improvement in any culinary endeavor, this restaurant certainly holds its own within Cambodia's Indian food scene.
The consistency and quality of the food served here are notable, and I believe they set a standard worth mentioning. I appreciate the effort put forth by the chef and the team, and I anticipate returning in the future to see how their menu evolves and maintains its quality. This restaurant is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable Indian dining experience...
Read moreWe came here today at 28/12/2023 for lunch. We thought it would be a good place to eat but wasn’t. We were a family of 4 and we ordered 3 vegetarian thali and 1 paneer thali. The paneer thali was ok but the vegetarian thali wasn’t good as I expected. In the vegetarian thali they gave poriyal, kadala(channa) curry, papad, yoghurt, sambhar, chapati and rice. Everything was ok and it is a decent quality of food a restaurant can give. Sambhar, yogurt, rice and chapati didn’t taste that good also the kadala curry, poriyal and papad were spoiled. I think that the kadala curry, poriyal and papad were kept in the fridge for some time and the chef cooked it again to cheat the customers telling that it is new. Why should the chef do that and why didn’t the owner tell the chef to cook it new. The chef should know it is spoiled and should the owner too. This is totally unacceptable. And also the quality was the worst. Please don’t try the vegetarian thali here as it...
