Banff's Hidden Gem | BBQ Chicken – Crispy Korean Fried Chicken 🍗🔥

Amazing authentic and fresh Korean food, kind staff and owner and chef, highly highly recommend visiting on any Canmore/ banff trip!! (This is THE only food stop you need, I promise) I don't write many reviews, but this store really surprised my partner and I by how great the food was!! We are from the states (spent many years in new york city and california bay area), and this branch had some of the best korean food we've ever had... (definitely way better than any BBQ chicken in the states. This is a franchise, but this location is by far the best I have ever visited.) This is a hidden gem in Canmore. We came back 4 nights in a row to eat here after discovering it! Food: 6/5. We tried as many dishes as we could over our 4 nights, and every single one of them was amazing. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Fried chicken: we tried golden fried, black pepper, red chakchak, honey garlic, and padak. Chicken is very juicy and tender, flavored perfectly and crispy (without being oily or heavy)! We also had the dukbokki, cheese buldak, bbq salad, cheese balls, and shrimp menbosha. Would recommend all of them, cheese buldak was really tender and flavorful too if you are not feeling fried food! The shrimp menbosha was a new dish, and it was probably one of our favorites :) Staff: 6/5. All the staff are very kind and friendly, and attentive to customer needs. The owner/chef is also really nice, had a great experience dining here every time. Thank you for sharing with us such a spectacular korean dining experience during our trip in banff!

September 2023: So we're not usually looking for fried chicken places on our travels, but we came across this resto on our walk in Canmore the night before and thought we should try it on our last day before heading home. Boy do we regret not knowing about this place earlier. This was the best fried chicken we've ever had. The owner greeted us immediately and explained the menu to us which helped tremendously in our decision making as the choices were plenty. We tried the black pepper and Gangnam boneless, the meat is so juicy and succulent and the spices are spot-on and very fresh. I love the size of their chicken pieces, big enough to give you lots of protein while keeping it very crisp. The chicken cutlets are of the best quality and freshness. We then tried their cheese balls, these are so addictive, We tried the original and the sweet potato. Who doesn't love melted cheese in a doughnut!!! The service is so fast and friendly. We sadly can't have this back in Montreal, but we were told that this is the second most popular chain for fried chicken in Korea so I'm hoping they will open in Montreal. Update June 2024: This place remains our favorite in Canmore. We tried the secret sauce chicken which was so yummy. You must try their fried cauliflower - no sauce - it's the best I've had. The spicy tomato salad was so refreshing.

Although the food was okay, our experience and service we received completely ruined it for us. It was my two year old's birthday and we had visited Banff that day. As we were heading home we checked in for dinner. One waitress (junior) was extremely kind and made an effort to befriend my toddler. The second waitress (senior) jumped into the scene while we already had a waitress at the table and started taking orders over her. The music was playing in the background and it was loud. While waiting for our food to arrive, I entertained my toddler by singing a few of her favourite songs and doing some peek-a-boo games. She squealed with excitement three times. Then comes in the senior waitress and extremely rudely hands me the remote of their TV and says have her watch YouTube as she is too loud. She said she is concerned about her customers. She continued to argue with us saying she is loud. I am an early childhood specialist. You do not have to tell me how loud children are. I know.. And I will be the first to apologize if mine was. She was not.

It is sad that we live in a world where the behaviour of a two year old is held at a higher expectation than an adult. She cannot decide what is best for my child. Your background music was LOUD. My child showing excitement three times is your limit? How rude. Are we not your customers? If this was not a child friendly place then put a sign up saying so. My child did not misbehave nor did we as parents ignore her actions. It was merely a mother and daughter playing and conversing.

How sad and pathetic the human race has become! Children have the most pure souls out of all of us adults.. What a shame it is to ruin their day, dishonour their joy, and not recognize the difference between an innocent child's laughter and a misbehaving child. If you are a family that have young kids and love to be children by making joyful sounds, do...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this exceptional Korean chicken restaurant, and I am genuinely impressed by every aspect of my experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by the staff, who were not only friendly but also attentive, making the whole visit feel welcoming and comfortable.

The food itself was an absolute revelation. The crispy, golden-brown chicken was perfectly seasoned—each bite delivering an incredible crunch followed by a tender, juicy interior that melted in the mouth. The unique blend of spices and flavors in their signature sauces was nothing short of extraordinary, offering a harmonious balance between sweet, savory, and a hint of heat. The variety on the menu is equally noteworthy, with options that go beyond the usual offerings, making it a delightful adventure for the tastebuds.

Service was impressively fast without sacrificing quality, allowing me to savor each dish in perfect timing. It was evident that attention to detail is at the heart of this restaurant, from the preparation of the food to the presentation of each dish.

Whether you're a long-time fan of Korean cuisine or new to its flavors, this spot offers something for everyone, with a creative, diverse menu that stands out in the crowded world of chicken eateries. A must-visit for anyone craving truly outstanding Korean...
