Fishbone - Thanks to my parents for a night off allowing me to take my wifey out for a nice meal. We hit up a local spot which we went to a few years ago, but hadn't been back since. Don't know why it took us so long to go back, but man was it a yummy seafood feast last night. NGL, it's pricey, but sometimes you have to treat yourself.
We started with the Ontario Beets; so good! We loved the herbaceousness from the mint and dill. We followed that with the Mussels & Clams and the bowl was piled high plus it included a toasted sourdough slice. The tomato saffron broth was so good I had to tip the bowl and drink it all - wish there was another piece of bread to sop up the soup.
Next were our entrees, the Seafood Tagliatelle and the special of the night which was a whole fried Red Snapper for two. The pasta was so good, but then again we love pasta especially cream sauce pastas. The fried fish was spectacular and was way bigger than we anticipated. It came with an umami blast tomato puree and taro chips. The combo was divine! Oh, we also washed all of this down with some Super Bock beer. Very refreshing and easy to drink!
Lastly, the restaurant was kind enough to gift us two glasses of port just before we received our dessert which was a very nice gesture and we end the night with the maple pine nut tart. Unfortunately the tart wasn't our fav, but it was still nice to have something sweet to end off such a hearty and seafood-filled dinner.
If you're in the area and looking to have a nice night out, don't hesitate to stop by Fishbone in Aurora....
Read moreReading the reviews, I see there are plenty of "foodies" of which I am not. Food is food when prepared and presented well. I don't care whether the sauce is red or white or "bathed" in whatever. Or carries some fancy foreign name to make it sound impressive. I'll try stuff I've never ordered before either. I do like food. All that said, the food here is good. I glazed over when the waiter (nice guy, and attentive) outlined the specials. But it is so freaking loud in this place I didn't hear or understand any of it. So much detail, I think I now know the recipe. I ordered off the menu instead. I looked at my bill to find what I ordered which was the Arroz a Valenciana. Really good and a big portion. But for 67 bucks, it should be. Took half of it home. It is a lot of rice, sausage, really small prawns as to be negligible and some shrimp in a nice sauce. And hot. It was good! It was my wife's birthday so I asked for a small dessert which was nicely presented. But we've been to places where the restaurant gives a small dessert or glass of bubbly which isn't charged to us. At the prices Fishbone charges, they honestly could afford to provide a small dessert without me paying for it. And this is a very expensive place. We preferred the Fishbone by the Lake as the location is really nice, and the tables spread out so that you're not shouting over the din of the other guests. Or hearing their...
Read moreThis is suppose to be top 100 restaurant and I expect equal treatment to all customer especially from what he is appeared to be floor manager. Not only myself but my party also feel that way. Sure enough before I write this review I read some of the review and we share very similar experiences. Especially with the above mention gentlemen.
During the check in at the front the lady was very nice 👍🏻 seems to be a very good start for a perfect dinner. However as soon as she hands off a gentlemen came over to our table and asked if we want anything for drinks but as soon as we tell him we don’t need any alcohol his mood turn 180 degrees. I understand during this Covid time every penny counts and alcohol and drink counts 40% of the profit. We just don’t feel like drinking and since we don’t live around the area driving back is a problem if we drink you shouldn’t be driving, enough said.
The other complaint was flys and mosquito being a open concept is very hard to control but I don’t see any measure to prevent it. Maybe I missed it but just don’t see it
Food is very delicious, worth a try if you can ignore the gentlemen or just simply order yourself a wine.
Our waiter is running few table the the same time. Maybe due to Covid is kinda understaffed and some of our request was missed and we had to ask again but no...
