This was one of our favorite meals. Do yourself a favor, park at the Fairmont hotel and come early so you can explore. It was BEAUTIFUL. Ambiance: Was one of the cutest restaurants. Super cozy and was a great date spot. But we also saw plenty of families experiencing it together. Food: We did the Fondue Experience. It included cheese fondue appetizer, an entree of your choosing, and a chocolate fondue dessert. Only thing bad I’ll say about the food is that you need to remember it’s a marathon and not a sprint. So I’d recommend eating less than you think you need (at least for some of the first few courses). Cheese fondue was great. It had bread, apples, and pickles that you could dip in it. Our waitress told us after that the only people that finish the full 3 courses are the people that don’t try to eat all the bread (so pace yourself). Entrees - we got a schnitzel and a veal chop. Both were good. But both were very filling. Just eat how much you want and save room for dessert. Chocolate fondue was probably my favorite course (but I do have a bit of a sweet tooth). It came with assorted fruit and assorted pastries to dip in there. Drinks - I got a pineapple margarita that was great and my wife enjoyed an old fashioned and she enjoyed it too. Service: Julie was the MVP of the day. She was so kind and personable. She even gave us other restaurant recommendations for when we were going to Canmore the next day (which her recommendations were also good). Julie deserves a million star review if I could give her one.

The restaurant is up in the second floor and has good views if you sit by the window. It looks down to the firepit and the valley. It's a nice cozy atmosphere with dark wood panelling and an elk head by the fireplace and Caribou antlers on the opposite wall. Service was great as we were seated right away and the server came over soon after asking if we wanted sparkling or still water. Talked about the menu and left us alone to decide. Food came out decently quick for the kids and then soon after the adult appetizers, and then the main entrees. The entrees were a decent size for both the adults and kids. The taste was delicious and the portions of vegetables to meat ratio was good. Although could have used more of the creamy mushroom sauce. There was some dietary restrictions for us as a member of my family has severe allergies and the restaurant made sure everything was going to be safe and no risk of cross contamination. It was good to see the server had all the allergies written down on the notepad. The server would also let us know what the kitchen said each time we had questions about a certain dish which made it reassuring that there would be hospital trip that night. The server worked with us for the chocolate fondue in which they would be able to separate the patries from the fruits which made it a good experience for the person that has the allergies.

This looked like a unique experience restaurant, so I made a dinner reservation for last week. The drinks were really good! (I highly recommend the Black Forest Sour.) We ordered the fondue as it was highly recommended by our waiter for an appetizer. However for almost 60 CAD, it wasn’t worth it. I’d give it a 2 out of 10. The cheese was very bland, chalky tasting and for only two people it was way too much to eat. You could almost eat the fondue for a meal if you wanted. I ordered the chicken and my boyfriend got the short rib. He said his meal was pretty good. I again was not impressed with my own meal because it was very bland. The main flavors that stood out to me was the dill and something that had a licorice taste to it. Overall we were highly disappointed with the cost of the food here and lack of flavor overall. Not really somewhere I’d recommend to others unless you like expensive food with no taste.

So there's a pub part (downstairs) and then there's a restaurant part (upstairs). I didn't realize but the pub part has the sausage platter, but when asked about it at the restaurant, our waitress said that they could serve it upstairs at the restaurant too. Cool! The pub seems to also have chicken wings and bratwurst.. but I didn't ask about these. We also ordered the schnitzel with the cheeses on top. Both the sausage platter and schnitzel dishes were executed great. Also has the pretzel - the mustard was awesome. Dessert was also fantastic. I knew I had to get the black forest cake. It's quite different.. had a lot of whipped cream. Apple strudel was also heaven. Both desserts were huge - I think one should be shared by two people. Julie, our waitress, was great. She was knowledgable, super attentive and knew what she was doing. I'd totally go again in a heartbeat.

A bit of a magical escape for me. It wasn't easy for me to find, so when I did find the place, it was akin to finding the Kingdom of Narnia. The first day I found it by parking in the (expensive) visitors parking lot at the far end of the hotel premises. The next day I found it (inadvertently) by taking the 2 hour relaxed walk from Banff town to see the Bow falls. Both times I sat on the pub patio and ordered the German beer in their unlisted 12oz size. Delicious. The breakfast was also excellent. (The rosti wasn't the Swedish rosti I was expecting, but the potato patties I got were good.) The view from the patio is breathtaking... Gorgeous location. Definitely recommended if you're up for the adventure. (Not cheap, but I wasn't expecting it to be.)

Restaurant is behind the hotel down some wooden paths. We made reservations for 6pm and had a seat with a nice view of the river. Service was excellent and the food was great. We started with Haus Bread and it was fresh out of the oven with plenty of butter. My husband got the beef short rib and it was soft and flavourful and we got a side of cabbage to share. I got the beef filet and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. We finished off our dinner with japanese orange sorbet which was light and refreshing. Overall a nice experience. We were able to ask for a shuttle to drive us back to the parkade where we parked instead of walking back up the steps in the dark.
