EDIT: I was personally invited back to the restaurant to give it another try by the manager. The service was, as expected, better, as was the food. I thought the food was decent; good enough to justify coming occasionally, although, I must admit, not outright superior to other local Mexican offerings. I'm sure your experiences will vary depending on which staff are working at which Mexican restaurants; busyness in the restaurants and freshness of the respective ingredients, etc. What keeps this review at three stars (up one from my initial two-star review and opposed to four or five) is the fact that this restaurant does take a long time to prepare your food. I am not sure the cause of the lengthy waits; it might have to do with the food being cooked on an open grill? I can't say; I've never worked in a Mexican restaurant myself, nor do I prepare Mexican dishes at home. The manager did his best to be speedy, which was appreciated, and, as I said, the food was better this time, but if you're going to come here, you must be aware that your order will take more time than you might be expecting. I should have timed it, and I'm kicking myself for not having done so. If there are two or more people waiting for food, I expect you'll be here for quite some time. Bear that in mind if you're stopping by on a lunch break or for a quick bite on your way to somewhere you need to be. END EDIT (original review below).
ORIGINAL: I was the first customer of the day. The restaurant was very hot as a result of the sunlight streaming into where the customers have to stand, and the food took an extremely long time to prepare. The staff member working did not give me an indication of how long it would be, did not have any sense of urgency, and barely communicated, although she did thank me for waiting at the very end. Still, though. It took so long and she was so uncommunicative that at a point in time I thought she was ignoring me because she had deposited my food somewhere; she was not speaking to me and was cleaning the restaurant. In reality, it was out of sight, cooking on the grill.
I might have overlooked this if the food was enjoyable, but unfortunately, it was, frankly, an awful meal. I don't see what the fuss is about. Despite taking so long on the grill, my burrito was completely cold. The carnitas waffle fries I had were mediocre at best; the warm parts were cool, the fresh parts were clashingly cold, and I didn't think the flavors of the sauces and the coleslaw mixed.
I also find any restaurant that has machines which prompt you to tip to be annoying and almost extortionistic. I certainly regretted tipping, given my experience, that's for sure.
I don't recommend coming here. What saved this from being a one-star review is the fact that the restaurant was clean and the packaging was attractive and professional-looking. But again, I don't recommend giving this place your business. I strongly recommend choosing another Mexican restaurant; one with quick service, communicative staff, hot food, and that is...

We have been at this location a few times, they must have big turnover or lots of employees. My thing has always been quality, quantity.& price. The quantity & price were average I have concerns about the quality.the fresh topping is not being rotated.you can see the old under the new witch will contaminate in time. #gross When the guy was warming up my burrito I watch him scrap off something off the side of the flat top with the spatula.excess fat grease. I'm not sure. But I was not impressed. He seemed not to care that he was going to pick up the food with it. I wasn't sure if he spoke English.? But the level of cleanliness is not a priority for him. Well, after that, I was done with this place. This is a growing...
Read moreThis Fat Bastard Burrito is the Beyoncé of burrito joints. Whenever we’re in Barrie, we make a pilgrimage here like it’s a holy site wrapped in foil. Sure, there are locations closer to home, but those ones have betrayed us—either by skimping on toppings, drowning us in sauce like we wronged them personally, or in one case, serving us a surprise side of plastic glove in our burrito.
But this location? Flawless. The toppings are generous, the sauce ratio is perfect, and the burritos themselves radiate an energy that could heal broken bones and, in my case, a broken marriage. I’m proud to say this Fat Bastard didn’t just feed me—it HEALED me. In fact, my firstborn child will bear its name. Little Baby Fat Bastard, you’re destined...
