Noodlebox — Restaurant in Barrie

I’ve been a loyal customer of Noodle Box for the past two years, but after my recent experience, I will never be returning.

I ordered the Kung Pao Beef dinner and was extremely disappointed with both the food and service. The noodles were dry and unappetizing, and the beef was so tough and chewy it was practically inedible. When I spoke to the manager, I was told that the beef is prepared in the morning, which supposedly explains why it was so dry and tough. That’s not an acceptable excuse for a dish that should be freshly made to order.

Additionally, I ordered the dish as mild, but it came out extremely spicy, which was not how it’s usually prepared. It completely ruined the meal.

When I called to complain, I was met with poor customer service. I spoke with the manager and a staff member named Parez, and both were dismissive and unhelpful. I had to wait 20 minutes for a callback, only to receive attitude and no resolution. The lack of professionalism and poor management was shocking.

I’ve been a regular customer for a long time, but this experience has left me very disappointed. The food was subpar, the spice level was wrong, and the customer service was appalling. Sadly, I will not be returning.

⚠️ Do not eat here if you are celiac or gluten-free.

We asked multiple times which items were safe, and the server repeatedly insisted that everything we asked about was gluten-free, even when it clearly wasn’t. She told us the crispy tofu was gluten-free, then added “it’s just breaded,” showing she didn’t actually understand what gluten is.

We had to look up the items ourselves and discovered that our order contained gluten, even after I explained I have a severe allergy (celiac). When I asked about gluten-free sauces, she quickly reassured me without checking, which was very concerning.

Eventually, another staff member came over and showed us the allergy guidelines…which we should have been given from the start. No one apologized; instead, they brushed it off by saying the first server was “just a trainee.”

If I hadn’t double-checked myself, I could have had a serious allergic reaction. Extremely careless and unsafe for anyone with celiac or gluten...

Was heading to another restaurant nearby that has never failed me, but came here instead based on the reviews, and the praise for the "butter chicken". I couldn't believe what I got, that was NOT butter chicken. As someone who spends 2 days to make real butter chicken I know what it is, and it is not water, seasonings, and (steamed?) chicken. This resembled more of a soup than anything else. I wasn't even really bothered by the fact that most of the tempura chicken appetizer was so far past overdone it was inedible. I'm not really sure why it bothered me so much, probably because it felt like false advertising, but if I wasn't so hungry I probably would have just left it and walked away from a 30$ meal. Only reason I give it 2 stars because the staff was friendly and attentive, and it was hot and freshly made. To the others that rave about it,.. no idea. P.S. the 4th pic is REAL...
