**Update** I always go here but today I went here and got the $20+hst (+tipped) pescatore pasta which I always get and the cook messed up by deciding to put a whole bunch of chili flakes which made it unenjoyable and very spicy and none of the staff did anything to rectify or fix it unfortunately so I rated lower now. It's unfortunate because this used to he amazing food and service but the lack of customer service and messy detail to food has made me disappointed. How do you mess up by pouring a bottle of chili flakes in a pasta not even advertised or listed as spicy!? Ruined my experience and wanting to return... What IF I had of been allergic to chili flakes? This mistake could have been serious and the lack of care is disappointing! Love this cozy Italian place, food is amazing quality and so freaking delicious and fresh homemade foods! Come here all the time! My favorite Italian place for pescatore seafood pasta and the pizzas! Don't need any dips for the pizza, they're so good by themselves! Recommend this place!!!

Hungry? Past lunchtime? Or…maybe it’s day’s end and you’d like to grab something Italian - AND wholesome for you, or the family. Get here. Yes, it’s in the south end, and yes, you’ve got to navigate either Bayview or Mapleview, and Park Place. Even so, it’s worth it! We stopped in mid-week, in the neither-lunch-nor-dinner hours. We were wanting to share a bite. Chose the Italian meatballs (4 large make up one order-enough for 2 each, and you won’t need more!) and the steamed vegetables. Could have easily gone for the amazing-looking pizza. Or the ready-made pasta dishes. Whatever you choose, it will be delicious; made from scratch and authentic Italian. You’ll browse in a clean open friendly space with helpful staff. There is a market side and there is an eatery. So if you’re inclined to stay, you can do so. This is good food, NOT fast food! I hope you will enjoy whatever you choose as much as we did! We will certainly be back. Sorry for the picture quality…we just dove in when we smelled the food. 🤣

This eatery was recommended to me by someone who knew I liked veal sandwiches and was a regular at California Kitchen. I decided to give them aa try. I was expecting a simply eatery but was surprised that it is also a mini Italian market with a good selection of items for the Italian loving palate. The sweets looked good as well and I'll be back to check them out and give them a review. My sandwich was served on a long rather than round bun. While it was good, it was not excellent. I felt like I was eating more bread than meat. The sandwich was a little light on the sauce and not as hot as I expected, especially when i had ordered an extra hot sandwich. Its priced at $10 which is lower than the $12 at California Kitchen. However, I think the latter sandwich is worth the extra $2. I would recommend giving them a try as my friend liked it enough to recommend them to me. I'll be back to taste some more of their offerings. This review and rating is for the veal sandwich only.

"It's in thermal containers " "You're lucky you only waited 30 minutes and not much longer " "We cook it fresh when you come so it's fresh " .. I will never go back to this place ever again .. The quality of food is good the Owners are successful to spite them selves .. The lady on front counter is condesending, rude and insulting .. WE placed our order at 3 pm for 530 pick up.. We arrive to pick it up it's busy..We wait in line for our turn a Young lady helps us We get our pastries , pay for meal .. Well waiting the older lady at front counters says "We cook the calamari fresh so when you come in it's fresh for you" .. We said thank you and waited and waited for 25 minutes finally almost 30 minutes later finally the calamari comes up .. A young man goes over to the shelf and brings us the rest of the order .. I asked if our food was sitting there the whole time..Her response was yes but "it's in insulated containers here touch it " she then huffed and said it's the holidays were busy .. excuse after excuse ... What should of happend is an apology for the wait and her to ask us if we wanted it remade before offering excuses ... ..She said something about it We said no and left ..As We are walking out the door she in a very condescending tone says "have a nice day" .. We get home the food is all cold it's now been ateast 45 mins since it was packaged..ribeyes are cold pasta is cold .. So call to voice our displeasure over the whole incedent ..She keeps making more excuses and abruptly says I am not in mood to argue with anyone ... She puts us on hold and a gentleman picks up named Paul We go through the whole story his First response was short staffed it's very busy .."He says your lucky you only waited 30 mins and not much longer" When we told him the ribeye was cold he said that meat is really tender you reheat it .. ..He offered to treat us next time ... and the call ended .. Long story short if you want good food at reasonable price go here.. if your looking to be respect and served with manners as a customer this isn't the place...

I wish I had read so many reviews that talk about staff in this place being rude before having our worst customer service ever. Also, they are child unfriendly - look for another review that points out disability discrimination.

The facts The calamari and the mushrooms were fine, but the pastas were awful - spaghetti with meatballs was tasteless and the penne with chicken was just boiled pasta with half a jar of tomato, very acidic. Strange to me to find at least herbs in an Italian restaurant. When I tried pasta Alfredo the sauce was just cream and butter; then I decided to speak to staff. She says that the cook had only been a couple of days there and that they would repeat but we had no time. I asked for a refund of two pastas, not the three (we paid a total of CAD130), they offer to refund one. I asked to speak to the manager, a talk man who claims to be the owner comes to me speaking in Italian in an intimidating way and I get back to him in Italian. He asks where I was from and he said he was you going to prepare two pastas for us next time.

We get there the week after with short time and not willing to have a worse experience and we ask for calamari to go which was exactly the same price as one of the pastas. They say no. Then I ask to take two frozen packs pastas to leave - in the end, it was the same 20CAD they had offered to refund. The woman at the counter agrees but indicates us to stay there. My child starts crying for not getting food, Te woman at the counter just didn’t care!! The woman at the counter keeps telling my husband she doesn’t want to argue with us (it seems to be arguing often) and that we should wait there. Of course we left. Horrid experience!

We got rudeness, arrogance, bad customer service and child unfriendliness! Apart from cheap cooking with the pastas. Of course we will never go...

I have been here a dozen times, I have tried most of items here as I am Italian and also an excellent cook. Eating out is a struggle in Barrie, there is allot of places that should never cook again, and then there is little gems like the Italian Eatery. I will give it a full 5 stars becuase it is about the best your going to get for eating out Italian in the Barrie area for a few things, like the Pizza, the breads, the pastries, I had some sausages there that was the best I have ever had in this town. I was dissapointed with a few things, the red sause is too bland for me, the lasagna is not up to par with what this chef is capable of, Pasta plus in Innisfil makes a much better lasagna if you are interested. I am also pretty sure the breaded chicken is procesed, it does not brake appart like real chicken, I wont eat that again. The Alfredo sauce is incredable, I hope one day I can say the same for the red sauce. I am a very very fussy eater, there is many items I wont eat at many other restaurants, so dont feel bad that I dont like a few things, that is normal for me. The meals can get pricey, I took my dad there and it was almost $50 for lunch, which is soemthing I cant do all the time, I believe they charged me $7.00 for a Carona ?? some of the food is like going to the GTA for sure, but so are the prices. This place is priced right for Richmond Hill /...
