Osmow's Shawarma — Restaurant in Barrie

If I could give this location half a star I would. Extremely disappointed with the man in the photo and totally unnecessary situation he has caused.

We purchased our food, went home and as we sit and start to eat we noticed the rice on my wife’s plate and the fires on my plate not cooked. So in good faith we gave the location a call and the lady over the phone spoke to my wife to bring the food back for a refund. I ended up going out of my way to do as asked from the person over the phone and drive 20 min.

When I stepped in the store I was confronted by the man in the picture. I told him the situation and that my wife spoke with someone and told us to bring the food for a refund. To my surprise this gentleman started to ask why, who, when and what..wasting more of my time and telling me he doesn’t know who told us to come back and that he cannot give a refund. I did get upset and question then why someone asked us to and waste our time. I would not have gone out of my way and come if this was the case and that whoever asked to come back should have confirmed this prior to telling us. No solid answer and continued question more about the food to which was not relevant at this point.

After I insisted that he simply tell me that he cannot issue a refund if this was the case and I would happily walk out, he decided to finally ask the owner (Sammy). Owner ended up listening to the concern apologized and asked the gentleman to issue a refund.

Point of the story is that the refund was never the concern. There is a reason why we had called to confirm and give the location a chance to resolve our bad experience. They could have simply stated no we apologize and cannot issue a refund or we can make another two plates for you or whatever options to make it a better experience. Instead, they made it worse and left a bad taste both with food and customer service by escalating the situation in front of other customers.

I’m writing this review I notice the multiple negative reviews as well and ultimately blame myself for not doing homework on the location prior to ordering.

We love Osmow’s, but will not visit or recommend this...

I attended the Shawarma day on Oct 15th. As expected the line up was out the door. I chose to order off the app at 6:21pm. I was given a pick up time of 7:01pm. We returned for our pick up at 6:58. The place was jammed. There was no direction regarding where to get the pick up (it turns out it was not at the obvious pick up location near the door).

We did not receive our order (2 items) until 9pm, 2 hours after our scheduled pick up time. I understand it was busy and it would take longer to receive our orders than normal. Had the app had a corrected time for pick up this would not have been an issue. Also there was no way to get an estimated pick up time before placing the order so had I not been ok with the wait there was no way to make the assessment before I placed the order, and then there was no way to cancel the order once placed.

One of the most frustrating things is after 8pm those who had recently ordered were getting their pick up orders, while those of us who had been waiting for an hour or more were kept waiting with no information regarding how long it may be, in fact there was no communication at all. There was nothing done to make up for the extra wait even after 8pm when they started serving others significantly faster while we continued to wait and it appears as though they had lost our orders. While I will agree that the food is good, this customer experience was not acceptable. There is no reason why I should have to wait for 2 hours for my food when those who ordered later received their food after 15-20...

Right off the bat if you love good food and service go anywhere but here.

I used to attend this location and last night (Sept 09) was the last time.

Specifically these two Indian girls (My family is Indian too) don’t give me cooked food, either the fries or the rice is bland, nor do they fairly compensate for it.

I noticed last night after their supervisor/manager left, they start blasting Punjabi Music to the max, I could not even keep a straight conversation with my friend sitting across of me, the girl is always on her phone navigating through next music to play and blasts it at night, she makesures to do this after her superior leaves. This is not the first time, however this was the last time I was gonna put up with it.

If you want food that’s cooked, not contaminated, and a place where you can actually sit without filthy music being played, then you are better off trying a different Osmos location.
