We love their pizza but the guy on the phone tonight was rude. I called to place an order for pickup for their 3 topping medium pizza and wings and 3 cans of pop deal ($19.99) and asked about putting the chicken bruschetta pizza toppings on the pizza. He bluntly said, "I can't do that."
You can't put toppings you have in your location on a pizza? We fully expected it would have an additional cost. When I asked why not he said that the toppings were gourmet toppings. No problem, I asked how much extra it would be to use the toppings. He said it would bring the price up to $36.99!
An extra $16 for toppings? Are you insane?
There is no pricing information on the flyer for the different levels of toppings but looking at the toppings on the pizza you have:
Pesto Chicken Roma tomato Feta Mozzarella cheese
Roma tomato is a regular topping, pesto is a sauce. That leaves chicken, feta and mozzarella as the remaining toppings. On the flyer it says that the gourmet toppings are worth 2 regular toppings. So say the chicken counts as 2 toppings, roma tomato is 1. Pesto shouldn't be counted because it's the sauce. That leaves two gourmet toppings.
So you're telling me that your gourmet toppings are $8 each? Thats crazy. Keep in mind that the chicken bruschetta pizza is $13.99 so upgrading the pizza in the deal costs more than the pizza alone!
I'm not sure if this is actual prices or if the guy on the phone is just a jerk who can't do math but it's definitely changed my view of paezano's.
Edit: as you can see the owner had reached back out and confirmed that it would have been $36 to modify the toppings on a pizza because they are gourmet toppings and are not included in the count of the 3 toppings you get and that changing the sauce is an additional charge. Ridiculous.
Granted the prices have changed since I last got their flyer. For this special they have given you another pop but now charge $24.99. Okay, $5 for a pop, whatever.
I did the math on ordering these items separately.
Medium chicken bruschetta pizza - $14.99 1lb of wings - $10.99 4 cans of pop - $4.99
It's only $30.97
So for changing/upgrading the toppings on a pizza for aa special the were going to charge me an extra $6. I agree, that's not much money, but it's the principle of the matter.
When we orde from here again we'll just order the items separately and I cannot speak highly enough for the quality of their pizza. It's perfect! But the customer service is definitely lacking. The guy on the phone had always sounded like taking ouo order was an inconvenience and now this pricing debacle just warns me to warn you to do your math when ordering and don't expect fair modifications to...
Read moreOK so I'm rating this before even receiving my pizza. I will revise it somewhat if it's any good. In Barrie for the night and decided to order after reading some of the reviews. I'm hoping that the pizza turns out to be better than the phone ordering did. Called to order lg pizza 5 item special posted online that comes with a salad. No salad at 630 at night. No problem here. They said they could substitute fries, bread sticks or mozza sticks instead. Not wanting any of that, I asked if I could get wings instead and pay the difference between them and the cost of mozza sticks. No. OK we will go to a different special - the one that includes wings and med pizza 3 items and 4 cans of pop I don't need. Order that and ask for 3 additional items on pizza that I would pay the extra for. NO, can't do that. What? Can't pay extra for extra items on a pizza? Have I entered the twilight zone? I have never heard such a thing. So we go back to original special and I take something I don't want, just to get this hassle over with. At this point I am wishing I just said no thanks and gone somewhere else. Hope it's worth all the hassle. I know this for sure - I will never order from here again, regardless of how the pizza is. Ridiculous. EDIT: people were nice though.
EDIT: changed to 3 from 1. Pizza was fine although not exceptional as some reviews would have you believe. Can't give it any higher as they arent interested in giving customers what they want. 3 at best.
EDIT The owner actually took the initiative to find me on Facebook and send me a message hoping to fix it next time I'm in Barrie. Says alot!!! Thanks...
Read morePlease don't let the high rating fool you. I wasn't really happy with my meal. My family felt the same. The real issue is a scoring category that doesn't exist..... value. For 22$ for a large pizza (that measured 13.25 inches at its biggest point) that was a Hawaiian, but we couldn't tell if it had bacon and ham? My daughter and I think it just had ham, but my wife says she tasted the bacon. The pizza was thin crust. It was very light sauce. The cheese was over the toppings. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. I just didn't see any value, and to us, it was lacking in the zing that you hope to get in pizza. I mean the lack of sauce related directly to the lack of acidic zing that tomatoes usually provide. Cheese was OK. Pineapple and ham(?) Were quality and plentiful. That said, I enjoy either bacon or ham crumbled... not both. The pizza felt like it had been too far refined, and lost it's essence. My wife said it well, "it's like the best boxed pizza I have ever had". For a large pizza, you could easily it it by yourself if you were having a beer or two..
The restaraunt was sparkling clean. Scent free. Excellent looking Gelato and espresso bar. The pricing for the coffee looked OK, I think it was 2.25 for an Americano, which is pretty good, based on the quality equipment they have there. Small sitting area. Very nice.
There was a small collection of Italian pastas, sauces, etc. They had cake slices and sausages (I believe spicey and mild cacciatore) which looked excellent.
Wrap up... it's not for my family.. the pizza anyways. I may try other items...
