La Pergola is truly a hidden gem in Brampton located in Monte Carlo Inn. The service by Collette was excellent & our dinner was great! We shared the calamari & shrimp cocktail which was very good.
The poutine could definitely be improved on though as they did not have actual poutine cheese curds & just used mozzarella as cheese toppings. It was not a true poutine nor did it taste like one. My disdain for that one dish did not warrant me from lowering my 4.5 Star āļø rating.
We had the NY strip loin steak, chicken Parmesan, chicken supreme & cheese tortellini as our mains which were good portions & delicious. We were all too full to have any dessert though options were limited.
The ambience/atmosphere could also definitely be better & the decor updated. The furniture looks outdated & several plates were chipped & should not be used. Also, we went to raise the bland looking blinds covering the window behind our table- to take better pictures of the evening- but was told that they were broken & it now could not be lowered after we raised it (you can see difference in pictures attached).
If thatās the case then get them fixed! It was actually laughable that was the reason the blinds could not be raised. As one of the guests at our dinner stated: it actually reveals the restaurant to outdoor clientele as no-one even knows the restaurant is there in first place. Simple fix but the problem is just allowed to continue unrepaired. Iām left to wonder what else there is broken & not easily replaced or repairedā¦.smh
Colette was the highlight of the evening. She was personable, friendly, professional & did great job tending to us. She has a great sense of humour & was very entertaining. She is an valuable asset to the restaurant. Too bad the restaurant has other issues through no fault of her own!
La Pergola is a very good restaurant but definitely not great. If you are looking for fine dining this is not the place but if youāre looking for something casual-the food is very good & prices fair. & service is excellent! Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreInside: Very spacious, could probably host 50-60 people, and then there's also a nice patio.
The seating was a mix of everything, singles, doubles, couples, large groups, sit by the bar which also looked promising.
It was fairly clean.
Service: The woman seated me quickly, I already knew what I wanted so it wasn't really any wasted time there lmao it was only her working. Good service.
Price: I got the bruschetta plate, that was like $10 after tax, decent appetizer price for a sit down place.
I also got the spaghetti and meatballs which was I think $17.
All the appetizers were from like $8-15, ranging from fries, bruschetta, chicken wings, calamari, and more.
The entre items were 9 inch pizzas, $12-16
Steak, salmon, shrimp, chicken parm, lamb, burgers, pasta, ranging anywhere from $12-$30
Quality: I finished both plates.
The bruschetta bread and tomatoes were great, the cheese however had just a strange taste I couldn't put my finger on. It didn't make me stop eating, but I did not love whatever taste that was.
Pasta was great, felt high quality, sauce was a little tangy but in a good way, liked it a ton. Garlic bread was also toasted nicely, but it didn't even really have a hint of garlic, it was good. The meatballs though... I did not finish them, just a little bland, didn't add to the dish really.
Overall: Nice sit down area, can come for many different types of occasions, theres a patio, a good amount of parking, good prices, food was above average.
Would I come back for those two? Hm maybe, they weren't bad and I would have 0 problems eating them again, but I think I'd try something else.
Did I feel ripped off spending $35? Not at all.
Would I come back in general to try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place left a positive impression with its fresh flavors and welcoming vibe.
The atmosphere was inviting, with modern decor and a calming green-and-wood aesthetic that complemented its vegetarian theme. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, providing recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed. Service was smooth and efficient, even during a busy evening.
The menu showcased creativity, featuring a range of vegetarian and plant-based options. I opted for the spinach and feta-stuffed filo parcels, which were light, flaky, and bursting with flavor. The signature lentil and chickpea curry was another highlight, with its aromatic spices and perfectly balanced heat. The presentation of each dish was thoughtful, and portion sizes were satisfying.
The standout for me was the dessert ā the dark chocolate avocado mousse was silky, rich, and perfectly sweetened. Drinks were equally enjoyable, especially the passion fruit iced tea, which was refreshing and not overly sweet.
While the food was delicious overall, a few dishes, like the beetroot carpaccio, felt a bit underseasoned. Still, the quality of ingredients and innovative recipes more than made up for these minor shortcomings.
It is a great choice for those seeking a creative vegetarian dining experience. Itās perfect for casual meals or celebrations. Iāll definitely be back to explore more...
