When I say the only good thing about this place is the aesthetic I mean it.
My friend and I visited today for the first time to have a coffee/late lunch. We were met with rudeness from the two staff working right off the bat.
We proceeded to both order a latte to sip on while we waited for our food. I got the pesto pasta salad, my friend the gnocchi. 25 ish minutes go by still no lattes (one of the staff was blatantly standing behind the counter on her phone neglecting our order) but they bring our food? We decide we’ll eat and then ask for a refund on the lattes as again, we wanted them pre food. My friends gnocchi was $17 and it came with approximately 5 pieces of uncooked “gnocchi” dough balls in a bowl of tomato sauce. It was so bad she couldn’t even eat it. My pasta salad was fine, though I believe it would be hard to mess up a basic pesto pasta salad.
Our server comes back to remove my plate and asks how the salad was I reply fine but we didn’t get the lattes we ordered so we’d like a refund for those. We were not even met with an apology she walked away and came back with 2 receipts and said “here’s your receipt” and also neglected to even ask my friend how her gnocchi was despite it being basically untouched.
For a cafe in such a popular area like Marda I expected a lot more. I don’t presume this business will last long with this kind of service. I should also add they were not by any means busy- there were 3 tables filled total including mine.
Won’t...
Read moreI visited here for the first time with 4 of my friends for our monthly coffee date. While it looked cute as you walked in, we quickly found it was small and crowded. The line to order went into the tables customers were seated at. Once I went up to order, I was told that they had to check if there was any bread left for the bruschetta (this was around 1pm) so I sat back down, received our coffees and still waited. 15 minutes later I was told there was none left, so I went to order the prosciutto and melon plate. 10 minutes after this, they told the table next to us that there was no bread left for their bruschetta, keep in mind they ordered before me, and to pick something else. At this point, my friends black coffee was also cold so I went in to check on the food and also let them know. I was met with a rude stare, told "okay?" and then gave me a new one for her. I was also told the food sas coming, although neither worker was preparing any food. At least 30 minutes have gone by from the time me and my friends ordered. A simple order of cake & icecream for one friend, prosciutto & melon, and a charcutterie tray for myself and my friend to share. We went in and asked for a refund, with not much compassion met, got the refunds and left to another spot down the street to eat at. We unfortunately...
Read moreI loved the concept but felt that it missed on execution - perhaps it was the wrong day to come visit but also we came for Sunday brunch so surely that's the best time? Super cute and pretty store but firstly our attendant just had a terrible attitude. I don't mind it when my waiter is a snob - that means they care about the food and the experience - this attendant however felt like they didn't want to be there (perhaps hungover). I felt like the menu was not designed for brunch - perhaps someone was just looking for basic Italian food and went with that? - but I didn't feel inclined to eat lasagne for brunch. I was intrigued by the small selection of pastries but at the counter they all looked old. So we ordered two affogatos. The ice cream was great but both espressos were burnt and sour. So my girlfriend and I definitely loved the concept. Perhaps if we feel like a second visit in a few months our experience will be better. One plus is that while it's a tight space, the patio is...
