Was the first ones in the club. The bartenders were super nice and respected me as well as I respected them. As the night went on and got busy I was heading downstairs to use the washroom (btw is terrible and none of the toilet doors actually lock) anyways, I was walking down the stairs with my bf and I accidently tripped on a stair because of my heels and caught myself on the railing which hurt my hand a bit but I was fine (I didn't f stumble and fall, or anything like that because and/or for drinking) I simply tripped because of my heels and so many people. There was a bouncer girl super tall blonde with braids who asked if I was ok then lit a flashlight down the stairs for me and proceeded to follow my bf and I and told us "I think it's time you leave" and I was like huh? Because I accidentally tripped on one step? I was pretty much completely sober, coherent and could walk and talk fine. She then followed me to tne bathroom waited and barely let me wash or dry my hands then when I walked out of the washroom she had me at the wall not letting me move saying I was being disrespectful and would not let me get a single word in as I was trying to explain its not fair as I just am not used to wearing these heels all the time. She had a very aggressive rude attitude towards me and I don't understand why. I am a very genuine nice person and was not being rude at all. She then grabbed me and basically dragged me by the arm out the doors (my bf then yelled at her that she cannot grab me like that). and I asked if I could please get my purse and sweater from coat check and said to me "nope you don't even have a ticket" literally just assumed that and threw me out the door. Thankfully my boyfriend was able to get them but it was terrible how she treated me. I seen girls stumbling not able to walk with random men trying to take advantage from what it looked like and people acting insane and they could care less about that?? I'm disgusted and hurt by the way I was treated. Had fun in the...

But it would be great if the bar hired a sound engineer.
Someone, who would tune the sound independently of a promo group and playing artists that night. Someone, who would be with people in the middle of the dance floor and hear how the sound system performs. Then tune it on an ipad connected to the system. This person must understand what the system can and canât do, then adjust things properly.
Iâve been there on a few different events and unfortunately had the same experience. The sound was quite fine until a headliner comes. Then the volume was turned to 120+ (someone just thought itâs cool). The sound clipped so hard so it was impossible to distinguish tones, vocal, bass and highs. Itâs interesting how I couldnât figure out what song is playing even though it was one of my favorite ones, which I listened to 100+ times. Thanks to other people around who started singing so I was like âaaah, that was a song I loveâ.
Unfortunately, I canât come and listen to my favorite artists anymore, because that place is the major one for this kind of music. And my wife says she wonât go with me either, because âwhy? just listen to this sound mess and ruin the night?â.
Guys, not everyone comes to just hang out and drink with friends. There are people who come to listen to their favorite artists and music on a big stage, with a big sound, a dance floor and nice people around. And I suppose thatâs the goal of this place.
Things, I mentioned above, are easy to fix, but they will give so much benefit.
I hope someday things will change and Iâll be able to come to Commonwealth again and listen to my favorite music with my...

A group of us coming from Edmonton and Saskatoon met in Calgary for an enjoyable long weekend trip. Many of our friends recommended that we should check out this bar. However, we stood in line for thirty minutes just so we can be rejected by the bouncers because a person in our group appeared to be "too drunk".
Funny how that is because, #1: We all had only a few drinks. #2: There were people in line that were just as and if not more intoxicated than any of us in the group. #3: I have seen my friend overtly tipsy and drunk; that night wasn't even close.
To top it off the bouncers even had the audacity to retort at my friend for looking "drunk" in her picture ID (was that necessary?), and to call us liars because we are making it a "big deal" (yes because we waited in line for 30 minutes to get discriminated against for a reason that is obviously not genuine).
All in all, whoever recruited these bouncers did an extremely lousy job. Apparently the control of letting people in and out of the bar had expanded their egos to the roof. The fact that I am using my time writing this long complaint a month after this incident on behalf of a friend shows just how offended we felt. Commonwealth, please fix up your staff if you want this bar to last.
In the end we went to two other places and had a blast. HIFI and HABITAT, WE LOVE YOU! The staff was great and the music was awesome. Next trip to Calgary we know exactly where to and...
