Excellent service. Kind, fast, polite staff. Probably the worst Vietnamese style FOOD ive ever had. WALK ACCROSS THE STREET Bagolac Saigon Restaurant, which is consistantly awesome: XWXM+83 Calgary, Alberta
So Nam: I spent $33 Got a chicken satay (chicken, spring rolls, vermacceli) A beef satay (Beef, spring rolls, vermacceli) A tea and a coke.
My husband ate about 1/3 of his. My American cheeseburger loving husband found it excrusiatingly salty. And check the other reviews, he isnt alone.
I couldnt eat any of it. The plain noodles at the bottom were good. I had a couple bites but the chicken, which was inedible. It tasted, off...like bad chicken smothered in sauce. I agree it was too salty but i didn't eat enough for it to really build up like it did for my husband.
I was particularly upset because we are new parents and I spent our gift card for chinook on this so we could actually go out and have a treat dinner. We lost all that money and to some it isnt much but it was all we had to spend on ourselves.
I really recommend going somewhere else. Opa is good, Edo is always tasty.
Just dont...
Read moreTried out Nam for the first and probably the last time. My boyfriend and I wanted a snack and decided to share a Satay Beef Banh Mi.. I found it kind of ridiculous that it was $9. The flavor was good but the portions for beef wasn't very much and when we first received our banh mi, it had no carrots on it when it was supposed to come with it. So we had to tell them and they added the carrots on.. And it was disappointing how little carrot they put on the banh mi. Like the cost of carrots isn't much so I don't understand why they were being so cheap with it. Anyways, with my experience I probably won't be returning. You're paying so much for something that mediocre. I'd rather go to an actual Vietnamese restaurant or banh mi shop.. And pay $6 for a sub or $10 for a bowl of pho. Or if I'm eating at the food court, I'd rather pay $10 for a burger meal VS a not very filling banh mi. Service was also only okay, a lot of...
Read moreI love eating pho and Vietnamese food, but this place was a gone show. The broth of my pho didn’t taste good at all, I was surprised with the peanuts added into the pho and some bitter taste to the broth. I hope the employees mention to customers about the peanuts in food, in case of allergies... I don’t have any allergies, but it was indeed a surprise to have them added in. I also ordered the spring rolls, they were good, but they were not warmed up when I got them.....this place was a disappointment, I guess what can I expect for retail food? Probably will not come back and order again. The food is also expensive for mediocre food.... you get better quality of food and better taste in a Vietnamese restaurant at a similar price... rather go somewhere else...
