Nami Sushi & Grill — Restaurant in Calgary

Girl at the register flat out lied about my order "being prepared" even though some other customer/delivery person had mistakenly taken it and all while I was there and saw it happen.

Before today, this place use to be my go to place for sushi but now it's customer service has left a negative mark for me. I put in my order online and came to pick up at the suggested time frame. After checking in and paying for my bill the girl at the register tells me it will be another 10 min so I waited in the restaurant. When she finally calls my order name another man who was there ahead of me steps up to grab it so I figured maybe we had the name? After waiting another 5 mins or so the same girl says to me that your order was given to that guy already and I said but I'm right here so she asked me to wait while she quickly goes and checks the orders in the back and I can see her going over the order tabs again to double check. She then phones the guy who had picked up my order and asked him to come back. I wait another 5 mins or so and I asked her if the other guy took my order? She says to me, "No, your order is being prepared right now" so again I keep waiting. Another 15 mins goes by and the guy came back with the order, gives it to her and she takes it to the back so it's not obvious that it was my order. After some time, she goes to the back kitchen and grabs out my order which looked exactly the same as the one the guy came back with. So basically she made the mistake of giving my order to the wrong person and when that customer/delivery person brought back the order she took the bag to the back for a few minutes and gave that same bag to me to make it look like my order had just been prepared. Like any other person, I do not appreciate Nami Sushi trying to fool me and lying about my order. I would have been less angry if they had just come straight out and told me they had made a mistake.

This is my first time to this to celebrate my belated birthday and vow was I in for a surprise. Not only is the price reasonably cheap but the food is incredibly tasty. The host and servers were very friendly and service were prompt. The place is Covid19 safe. The food is so reasonable and tasty we reorder some of them again. Oh we ate so much and really contended that we make appointment to come back in 3 weeks time. We had the specials like moneybags, the chicken karrage, the special sushi rolls, the stampede rolls and of course the beef tataki. It's one of my standard for a sushi place. It was so good and they use good beef cut, tastes almost like kobe beef. They are a busy place for take out and I know because I have been to this place for deliveries. I do part time food delivery and that's why I decided to eat here and there's no regrets. All the five of us gave this place a 5 stars individually.

For those who might be thinking about trying this place, it's not excellent but it's not overly terrible either. We didn't have a reservation for Friday and the place was packed at 630pm. It didn't take us too long to get a seat. Once we sat down I was a bit shocked at the oversized menu they had. It literally looked like a bible. Flipping through the menu you have the rolls which are fairly cheap ($10 bucks), noodles, appetizers, nigri, sashimi sushi ( $2/ piece) and desserts. I tried the nigri sushi, sashimi and a scallop roll. The presentation was average and after taking a couple bites I noticed the dish was just... average. No special kick from flavor, sushi rice was maybe the wrong kind (tasted sweet as well), and it just tasted average and bland.
