I was looking forward to enjoying this place. I came in as a solo diner after my anxious personality studied the online menu and was dying to try the banana foster French toast. When I arrived I immediately felt like being solo was a slight inconvenience and the person at the till just said, you can sit there and pointed at the reserved table, so I'm assuming it was reserved for a bit later. At first I thought it was nice to put me in a small booth, but then realized that I was now on display for everyone coming in as the booth is directly across from the front door. I looked at the menu and noticed the banana foster French toast wasn't on the menu and ordered the brioche French toast that was, but the girl that barely seated me, said they weren't serving French toast that day. So I skimmed the menu and went for the open faced Croque Madame. It arrived before my latte. Cold buttered toast, ham, dry af pork tucked into the ham, provolone and none that I could tell béchamel. The salad was wilted and had rotten bits in it and the potatoes seemed like day old used to be crispy but now a bit soggy roasted with not a ton of seasoning. Did I eat it? yes, it was fine. But it was not worth the $22 price tag. The young man that took my plate and processed the bill was very nice. I emailed them through the website and never received a response. The lavender latte was delicious and I will come back just for that, but the rest of my experience sadly, did not live up to the expectations I had or correspond to the other reviews. Please at least update your website to reflect your in...
Read moreWow, this is a beautiful restaurant. The room, decor, copper serving pots, the awesome syphon coffee makers, even the water glasses are beautiful. Someone put a lot of time and effort in.
I haven't been 'inside' a restaurant for a long time, given our new world, and takeout was getting old. Even the good stuff. I craved an elegant room, some service and a trip outside my neighborhood. When I saw the ad for their lobster set, my mind was made up. I phoned ahead and reserved the lobster.
The tables are well spaced, and all patrons are gently reminded to put on their masks when they enter or move around. Safe and comfortable. :)
The Rose Latte is one of a number of beautiful coffees, and was delicious and unusual. Loved it.
My Lobster Roll was perfect. Unmolested, perfectly unadorned save some butter/mayo and herbs, and lettuce, on a perfect soft roll. The bisque was equally good, traditional, served in that beautiful pot.
My guest had a beef sandwich on a french roll that looked almost as good! We both figured we'd be taking doggy bags home, as the portions are pretty big, but we left not a crumb... the riverside park across the street was a good spot to walk it off.
Service was friendly and professional, love the uniforms. Gary, the manager, came over to welcome us too. Nice.
If I sound like I'm gushing, it's 'cause I liked it a lot. And will be going back. There is so much more to try. A syphon...

Hutch Café offers an awesome atmosphere with great service, friendly staff, and delicious food. We ordered two dishes: Smashed Avocado & Halloumi Cheese on Toast and Wild Mushroom & Truffled Butter Croissant.
The Smashed Avocado & Halloumi Cheese on Toast featured grilled halloumi encased in a light tempura-style coating that added a perfect crispy bite. The poached eggs were done to perfection — soft and runny just the way they should be. The avocado was smooth and creamy, complemented beautifully by fresh tomato and alfalfa sprouts. The seeded sourdough was well toasted, providing a wonderful crunch that tied all the flavours together.
The Wild Mushroom & Truffled Butter Croissant was just as impressive. The poached eggs were once again spot on, pairing perfectly with the rich, earthy flavours of the wild mushrooms. The creamy hollandaise sauce enhanced the dish, while the buttery truffled croissant added a unique and delicious twist.
Both dishes were fantastic — beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The coffee and tea were also very good. The café is quite busy, so I recommend booking in advance or being prepared to wait around 30 minutes for a table — but trust me, it’s worth it! The staff were professional, attentive, and very friendly.
Overall, a highly recommended spot for a satisfying Sunday...
