I have been going Jjamppong and their seafood jjamppong is the best in Calgary!
Their main item is Jjamppong, which is Korean noodle dish with seafood and spicy seafood broth with wheat noodle. Their soup is so flavorful, you can definitely taste seafood like shrimp, squid, clam flavors. The soup is a little bit spicy, if you are not someone who likes spicy food, this may taste pretty spicy. In my opinion, spice level is perfect, it is not too spicy so that you can savor the delicious soup!
It comes with 2 full shrimp and mussel, squid, clams, some veggies. Noodle is thick wheat noodle, which is kinda soft in texture. The potion size os generous, I leave this place full and happy all the time.
I also liked their sweet and sour chicken, it is like orange chicken. Sweet and sour pork is also great. I’m not huge fan of jajan noodle in general, if you like it, their jajan noodle is also really good.
They have half and half menu, which comes with half Jjamppong and half jajan noodle or fried rice with jajan sauce. These ones are the best of both world and I love it!
Pricing is reasonable in my opinion, service is always quick and friendly. One thing to mention, just so you do not expect too much and get disappointed, this is basically a noodle house, they do not serve side dishes like other Korean restaurants. They give you pickled radish(not kimchi).
I’ll definitely...
Read moreOriginally, we had plans to dine at another restaurant, but due to its full occupancy, we decided to give this establishment a chance, particularly since our craving for Korean cuisine was strong and they promptly seated us. To our delight, this choice turned out to be a fantastic one! The authenticity of the restaurant was immediately evident, with the majority of patrons being Korean, and a diverse range of age groups present.
Opting for the fried chicken, expecting it to resemble the typical KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) style found at places like WOW Chicken, we were in for a pleasant surprise. The chicken arrived in slices, coated with a delectable sauce, presenting a unique twist that had us eagerly savoring every bite. This delightful surprise left us craving more and intrigued by the menu's other offerings. There are numerous dishes we're eager to explore, and we're definitely planning to return for another memorable...
Read moreIm glad we have a korean restaurant like this close to home. We usually have to drive across the city to go to sandong but since this place opened up we may have to start going here more often.
Its unfair to compare this new restaurant to our previous favourite. But thats what i intend on doing 😁, the fried chicken in tomato sause was very tender and juicy but it was slightly sweeter then what we are used to and not as crunchy as we like.
The black bean noodles were good, very standard flavour.
The jjampong spicey seafood soup was delicious i kind of miss having water chestnuts in the soup but the addition of shrimp am zucchini was good too.
I hope in the future they include a blackbean and spicy soup combo (jjamjamyeon).
And the restaurant is currently missing the typical decorations on the walls that usually give a korean restaurant its charm but because its only been open for 3 weeks i cant...
