I don’t usually leave long and detailed reviews but I feel I owe it to this wonderful place because of the experience they provided to us last night.
My husband and our two friends were there as I had selected this my restaurant of choice for my birthday dinner.
We were greeted with a smile by one of the owners/Chefs and she made us feel welcome. The ambience is cozy and perfect for an intimate-sized gathering.
The dish I ordered last year was no longer on the menu and I think the owner heard I asked about it to the server and she said they would whip it up just for me! I told her that she made my birthday night with that really above and beyond gesture.
We ordered the calamari and caprese salad to share for our appetizers. Both were so good! I don’t usually care for marinara sauce but the marinara that came with the calamari, I could have devoured on my own. Each of us ordered our own main dish - Gnocchi, Caccio e Pepe, Prawn Risotto, and Seafood Pescatore. We each had a little taste of all that was ordered and all you can hear was “wow that’s really good”.
To end the night, we shared a crème brûlée and some cappuccinos to wash everything down. The crème brûlée had an earl grey flavour to it which made it even more delicious.
The food and service were nothing short of my expectations. I say “my” because the last time I went was last year and remembered I really enjoyed my experience and declared it to be my favourite Italian restaurant so I was really looking forward to spending my birthday dinner here again.
This is the second year in a row I have celebrated my birthday at My Little Italia and I might just continue to keep doing so as tradition. Although, I would probably make an extra trip (or two) in...
Read moreMy Little Italia is a delightful gem that should be on every Italian food lover’s radar. I went in hungry and left absolutely stuffed—yet somehow, I’m already thinking about my next visit.
The Carbonara Arancini was the perfect start. The combination of bacon, egg, and risotto in a crispy shell was a creative twist on the classic, and that basil béchamel dipping sauce was the kind of indulgence I didn’t know I needed in my life.
Calamari Fritti was next, and it was everything you want from calamari: crispy, tender, and paired with a marinara sauce so good, I might have considered asking for a to-go container of just that.
Then came the main event: Carbonara. Chef Kevin’s take on this dish was rich, creamy, and loaded with pancetta and Parmesan. It was so delicious that I found myself eating slower just to make it last. The black pepper gave it just the right amount of bite, balancing the richness perfectly.
Finally, the Short Rib Ravioli in brown butter sage sauce was a work of art. The ravioli were stuffed with tender, flavorful short rib, and the sauce was a beautifully nutty complement. This was my standout dish.
I ended the night by waddling out of there with a tiramisu tucked under my arm like a prized trophy. I was too full to eat it then, but I’ll probably dream about it until I do.
Chef Kevin and his team are doing amazing things at My Little Italia. Whether you’re in the mood for classic comfort food or something a bit more creative, this place has it all. Just be prepared to go home in...
Read more11/10 experience at My Little Italia. This restaurant is certainly different than any I've been to before. There were only 6-7 tables being managed by a single host who has refined service down to an artform. She was attentive, kind, and made us feel taken care of. We then ordered a four course meal; salad, pasta, two mains, and dessert, which were all 10/10 dishes. They began to come out almost immediately after ordering, and each of them were the best of their respective dishes that I've had in this city; caprese, gnocchi, rissoto, chicken. It's rare to find just one dish at a restaurant that blows you away, and we were treated to four. I was very impressed at the attention to detail and quality of every facet of the restaurant experience; everything felt thoroughly considered. This is the type of place that makes me want to go out and spend money on food. On top of this, we spent just over $100. We've spent double this at fancy Italian restaurants that aren't as good at My Little Italia. This is a special restaurant that offers a unique, casual dining experience with excellent food and service. I'm looking forward...
