I'm leaving a 2 star because we weren't offered the daily deals by the staff and I really just wish they are knowledgeable of their promotions. I came in today with a friend and first time trying their food. I honestly like the taste and presentation of the food. We were hungry so we ordered right away as soon as we got in the store. After we paid and was waiting for food, we were looking at the posters inside and in the doors and realized that there was a daily special for the Ozbox on Sundays for only $12.49. We ordered 2 Ozbox mixed today (Sunday) and got charged regular price ($16.99 each). I asked the cashier that isn't our meals on the daily special and she said that we're supposed to tell her that we want the deal even if we ordered the exact same thing as the promo. I then asked if they don't offer it to the customers and that "we" have to remind the staff? She just said "yeah, sorry." I've never experience this coming from a restaurant or fast food worker that I have to ask and know their promotions instead of them offering it so customers can save. It is all just disappointing and I'm probably not coming back because I don't think I can remind your staff all the time about your promotions when this is clearly their job to know and offer. I'd suggest to put down your posters if you're not honoring and promoting it anyway or maybe train your staff properly or at least have someone with them if...
Read moreOntario could have given us Shelby's, but they sent us Osmow's instead. It's not good. Ordering is bizarre- you have to specify all of your toppings in advance and you don't see the shawarma actually assembled. Pickles and other items are DICED. I've never seen that before. NO HUMMUS?? And you have to specify your spice level- spice from what? Chilies? I got a chicken saj shawarma, had no idea where the "spice" came from and requested medium. It was actually very spicy, but again, spice from what ingredient? The taste was...okay, but I like my shawarma with hummus and tahini and, again, no hummus. My friend's regular lamb shawarma on pita (not saj) was minuscule. There are so, so, so many better shawarma places in Calgary and if Jerusalem or Shawarma King opens in Univ District they'll put Osmow's out of business.
They have bowls that have either fries or rice as a base which they confusingly call "sticks" and "rocks." I have no idea if they were any good, but why they use this bizarre terminology- it's not cute, it's confusing. Rice isn't supposed to be...
Read moreI apologize for a harsh review but as a shawarma lover, I don't think this place deserves a 4.5, it's closer to a 2.5 or 3 at best.
We ordered 2 super size wraps, one lamb, the other chicken. While there's nothing wrong with the ingredients, the making of the wrap is very disappointing. The stuffing is at most for a small size wrap amount at many other shawarma places. Because of the lack of stuffing in a supersize wrap, you feel the thickness and dryness of the paratha. Usually a well portioned shawarma should have very soft paratha because it's soaked by the meat juice and tahini sauce.
And both of us didn't feel satisfied after finishing a whole super size wrap.. while normally we could only finish half of a wrap at other places.
This could be an issue with stuff training but it won't be wise to come again to risk a similar...
