CONDENSING MANAGER - UNPROFESSIONAL TO CUSTOMERS AND WOMEN
LACK OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION - NO PRICES FOR GLUTEN FREE MENU ITEMS
Let me explain...
They claimed they had a gluten free menu. Very friendly waitress however I asked instead of having a “whole” gluten free Belgium waffle, can I have a gluten free Waffle as a “side” with my eggs, toast and hash browns. She said yes, we can do half a Belgium waffle on the “side”. I enjoyed my brunch and then received a bill close to $28! There was an error on the bill claiming I had ordered 3 Belgium waffles (non-gluten free waffles). I went to the manager about this error, the manager called the waitress (in a rude tone) and without communicating to me the waitress said that she charged me for the 3 waffles because that was what I ordered that was equivalent to half a waffle but that’s impossible because I am GLUTEN FREE and the logic of 3 waffles equivalent to half a waffle just doesnt make sense.
The manager accused me, saying YOU should of known better (as a customer). I said there was NO prices on the gluten free menu (besides the fact). The most condensending, manipulative man, not just to me but even to the female waitress.
I was trying to be nice. I paid and left crying in tears, his hateful energy was very hurtful..

Read morebeen coming since i was a child, very sad to see the price increases for the food you get. the quality has gone severely down (truckstop quality honestly), i wish i got a picture of the eggs benedict i got but for nearly $20 i’ll be going to denny’s or iHop for better value (i usually have leftovers at those places). it was so small i left still hungry, not to mention it was SO hot in there i couldn’t even order a regular coffee because we were sweating.
overall, disappointed to see the price increase and the quality drop of one of my favourite restaurants. i can get over the dated look because its a childhood classic for me but the small servings, slightly burnt and nickle and diming for every dish sucks. for $50+ for 2 people i’d rather go somewhere that has better value and experience. it used to be an affordable place to grab a quick breakfast that filled you up, its none of those things anymore 😵💫
even a side of fruit for my child (grapes and cantaloupe was...
Read moreI’ve been going to Phil’s since I was a kid and to this day it is still one of my all-time favourite breakfast spots; specifically the one off Glenmore (sadly the 17th Ave location is gone). I have been here so many times with close family and friends over the years and the staff are always friendly, the environment is warm and old-fashioned, and the breakfast is always outstanding. It’s tradition for my best friend and I to come here for breakfast and my husband knows that this is one of my favourite local spots to eat. The French Toast is absolutely delicious, they offer fantastic diner-style milkshakes, and just endless options to choose from for breakfast, lunch or dinner; though I highly recommend having breakfast - at any time of the day! Also, lots of parking available (though the weekends can get a bit tricky), very fast and efficient service from the moment you enter and even after paying your bill. Thanks for the many years...
