Went on a Friday at 7 pm and the restaurant was full (not surprising for a Friday). The food was great! Some of the best Japanese food I’ve had and great flavour and good presentation. The service on the other hand was terrible. I understand it was a busy Friday night however my group was seated by the host and our actual server didn’t come to take our drink orders for at LEAST 15 minutes. We ordered drinks and then it took about 10-15 minutes for the drinks to come out so at this point we just ordered our appetizer and meal because we didn’t want to wait another 10-15 minutes to order the meal. Our server came out with our appetizer and at this point we had finished our drinks and were not offered to get another round of drinks. After this, he was NO WHERE to be seen for 1.5 hours. The rest of our food was served to us by other staff (which I understand is normal in restaurants) but at no point did our original server or other serving staff check in with us to see how our meal was or again, offer to get us drinks. After 1.5 hours, our server was still no where to be seen (couldn’t see him in the restaurant at all actually so he wasn’t just busy with other tables) By the end when we were finished all our food - plates empty, another server came to clear the plates and we asked her for the bill. Only then, at this point, the original server popped up and we saw him making smoke bubbles for a few kids across the restaurant. When he finished that, he came over to our table and asked us “did you guys want to order more food?” when clearly all the plates on our table were gone and there was nothing besides empty drink glasses. We said no, and asked for the bill. And the server who cleared the plates never let him know we wanted the bill either. I understand it was well within our abilities to order more drinks and flag down staff etc… however for a upper scale restaurant such as this, service should be good as well. Disappointing that he never came over and disappeared until we were literally ready to pay and leave. I understand it was a busy night but we looked at other tables to compare and their servers seemed to be more consistent and attentive. Willing to give this restaurant another because the food was great and hoping the...

Ryuko in Calgary delivered a satisfying dining experience, hitting plenty of high notes with their menu and warm atmosphere. Stepping in, the clean, modern decor and calm ambiance set a welcoming tone for the meal—definitely a spot where one can comfortably enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner with friends. Service at Ryuko was attentive and helpful. The staff were quick to answer questions and kept our table well looked after throughout the visit, adding to the overall positive experience. The food quality definitely impresses, especially the tonkotsu ramen, which boasts a rich, flavorful broth and perfectly tender pork slices. The spice ramen packs a gentle heat that isn’t overwhelming, ideal for those seeking a bit of kick without blowing out their taste buds. The bibimbap stands out in presentation, vibrant and thoughtfully plated, though it could benefit from a more generous portion of sauce to bring all those fresh toppings together. One of the true stars of the meal was the premium salmon roll—beautifully fresh, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It’s a must-order for sushi lovers. In terms of value, Ryuko sits comfortably in the “worth it” range. Pricing is fair given the quality of the ingredients, portion sizes, and inviting setting. Overall, Ryuko earns a strong recommendation for anyone craving great ramen and sushi in Calgary. Small tweaks like more sauce on the bibimbap would make it even better, but the attentive staff, tastefully designed space, and consistently...

This place is busy so get a reservation, not just a place can walk into, you walk in and great air con on these hot summer days, very clean restaurant, always greater by a host or manager shortly, always very happy and attentive staff (well trained) great clean and open kitchen you can see what’s going on, amazing too Quality fresh fish and seafood prepared like an art form in front of you , I sat at counter to get a free food course and was in awe of the chefs skill, he even noticed me watching him and gave me a few pieces of the fresher sushi I have had outside of Japan, no other restaurant in Calgary can compare, I watched him meticulously cut the fish from start to perfect sashimi pieces, trim away portions other restaurants try and reuse, not here the attention to detail , watching him debone, and always washing his hands after every operation, Andy was great at front door and remembered me and went out of his way to give me an amazing desert , everything 10/10 from mocktails to cocktails, try the beef tataki it’s insane, in fact order 2 haha 🤣 would come back here any day, this is food...

Had a great time trying the new Ryoko location! My first and really only qualm, parking is difficult to find. That being said, the staff are lovely, the attention to detail was amazing. We were sat at the bar, and got to watch the kitchen staff work their magic. We got a lovely treat on the house of Hokkaido Scallops and flying fish roe with fried shrimp heads, it was delicious. We both got drinks and I can say that the Yuzu cocktail was a great choice for me because it was the perfect combination of sweet and bright fruity flavours. The table side bubble was also a treat! We got the Set A menu with 2 rolls, miso soup for 2, and chicken katsu. One word, wow! The flavours were exceptional and I loved the combined of rolls. The miso was plain without any tofu or seaweed but I thought it was delicious. The katsu was shatteringly crisp and honestly the amount of food was more than enough for 2 people. I know I'll be back!
