Honestly, the absolute worst restaurant experience I have ever had. My boyfriend booked a 7:30pm reservation for Valentine’s Day after seeing many good reviews on google. When we got there for our 7:30 reso, we were told they were full and that we’d have to wait 10 minutes (not a big deal), so we chose to sit up at the bar and grab a drink. No one even said hi to us for about 10 minutes, and the drinks we ordered were not good at all. The “10 minute wait” for our table turned into 40+. When we finally sat down there was a sea of people forming in the front entrance and outside. We asked our server what was going on and she said they had accidentally double booked a ton of reservations. Our server was nice, however the bottle of wine we ordered took 20+ minutes (bar was backed up) and by the time it arrived we were basically finished our appetizers. Then our food came, it was average at best. Then it was time for dessert, my boyfriend had tiramisu which was just okay, I had the cheesecake which tasted like it was purchased from a local convenience store. The quality was just not there from the start to finish. Our server knew of our poor experience and said many people had bad experiences that night (we were kind to her, as we knew this was not her fault). However, we never once had an apology from management, and there was zero accountability or compensation for our bad experience on Valentine’s Day. We wanted to leave before we even got our wine, but we couldn’t get another reservation anywhere else because it was Valentine’s Day. All in all, I am extremely disappointed and will never return to any of the Toscana locations, I will also be telling anyone I know how poor of an experience it was. I usually do not leave reviews as my dad owns restaurants, and I have grown up around them/know how bad reviews can really hurt a business. However, this was just unacceptable. Not the way a business should be ran, and to be honest I am shocked this place has as many good reviews as it does. With so many good Italian options to choose from in Calgary, this was...
Read moreI think the owners of this restaurant should reflect on themselves. Everyone makes mistakes, but what should be considered after a mistake is to apologize and make up for it as much as possible, rather than manipulating reviews like they are doing now!
What happened on Valentine's Day has been stated by many people, but I think only the customers who stood in the cold wind for dozens of minutes that night can truly understand the feeling of being ignored and even toyed with. Valentine's Day is a very important festival, and I think this restaurant is aware of this, which is why they launched a special menu and accepted reservations. However, their mistake ruined many people's expectations for this festival. The main reason why everyone is angry and dissatisfied with them is their disrespect for customers. I think if they want to make up for it or sincerely apologize to us who arrived on time as per the reservation but had no seats, we would give them understanding and forgiveness. But they didn't. They just ignored us. I think they don't care about their customers at all. Anyway, because of their mistake, their restaurant was full on Valentine's Day, and they made a fortune. They don't need these customers or don't need to respect these customers who don't have the right to be seated!
Because of this restaurant, my boyfriend and I had an "unforgettable" Valentine's Day! I can't comment on the food of this restaurant because my boyfriend didn't want me, who was wearing a dress, to continue waiting in the cold wind. But I want to say that if a restaurant doesn't even have the attitude of respecting customers and admitting mistakes, then no matter what kind of food it has, it's not worth people...
Read moreI booked a reservation at this restaurant a few days before Valentine's Day, fully aware that it would be a busy evening. The staff confirmed my reservation and informed me about their special holiday menu, which I agreed to. I was genuinely excited to create a perfect romantic night for my girlfriend.
However, the experience was a complete disaster. Upon arriving at my reserved time, we found a chaotic crowd waiting outside. No staff members were managing the line or checking reservations — everyone stood ignored in the cold. After 20 minutes of waiting with zero communication, I approached a server, stressed about missing our movie plans. To my shock, they bluntly said, "Even with a reservation, you’ll have to wait longer."By then, it was already 30 minutes past our booking time.
We had no choice but to leave. Despite scrambling to find another restaurant, everywhere was packed. We ended up eating fast food at McDonald’s, which left my girlfriend heartbroken. Instead of enjoying a special night, I spent hours comforting her over cold fries.
This restaurant destroyed our Valentine’s Day. What should have been a memorable celebration turned into a humiliating, stressful ordeal due to **their utter lack of organization and respect for customers’ time.
