I always have a good experience at Angel's. On my last visit, the server was warm, friendly and attentive. On a weeknight evening, it was a bit busy, but we were quickly seated and seen by the server. Our food took a little longer to come than expected, but we were tired and hungry, which may have skewed our sense of time.
For dinner, I had the vegetarian omelet, which came with home fries, veggies and toast. It was a big portion and surprisingly tasty. It wasn't salty or greasy, as with my experience at other diners. The veggies on the side were fresh (not frozen), well seasoned and perfectly grilled. The toast was lightly buttered, just as requested.
I've been told that Cambridge has some of the hardest water in all of Canada - which you'll notice in the drinking water. The tap water had a noticeably different taste than GTA water, but it was drinkable.
They have a big, meat-based menu, with few vegetarian options, but the options I've had in the past have always been good.
Although there were many families in our section, it was still a calm and quiet experience. Oldies played softly in the background, which added to the pleasant atmosphere. There's a jukebox at the entrance, and old, classic posters, which added to the oldies vibe.
While I sat at a comfy booth, I noticed the spacious seating in the center, which would be well suited for strollers, walkers or any mobility device. I didn't visit the washroom, so I can't comment on that. I don't recall how wheelchair friendly the entrance or parking lot was.
I live out of town, but have frequented Angel's while passing through. If you're looking for a classic family diner experience, this is it! I will...
Read moreI haven't been to this location in years. The Cambridge Angel's is probably my favourite one due to the fact that it is quieterin its overall atmosphere. Even when it's at its busiest, like it was Saturday evening at 5:30pm. I chose the salmon from the Senior's menu and was thoroughly impressed with the quantity, way it was prepared, presented, all the choices I was given for sides, and my coffee and soup were included for $14.95. Yes , you read that correctly, and to be a senior, you need to be just 60 and over! Our rever was a delightful young member of the family that run this location and she couldn't have been sweeter. The food was a tad slower than I expected it to be but then I wasn't in a big hurry so all is forgiven** Great selection by the way on the entire menu for every member of the family. All day breakfast is served their famous burgers and shakes and of course a wide choice of entrées from lasagna to Greek souvlaki. I've tried them all at one time or another and can tell you they're all good but bring an empty stomach! Helpings can be large to...
Read moreFor the last three years we’ve held two separate large Christmas parties with anywhere from 25 to 35 people per party Was always very pleased This year took three weeks to finally get a reservation as Dimitri the manager would not call me. Always getting somebody else to call. Finally we settled on a Thursday evening which was really not the norm as most people work till 5 o’clock. We set the time for 6 o’clock I reserved I confirmed and literally six days before the first event, Dimitri has one of the waitresses called me as he doesn’t have the decency himself to do so to say that we have to be there for 530 and be finished by 7:30 as they close at 8 o’clock I explained we originally booked for 6 PM and agreed we would be finished by eight I’m very dissatisfied and now have to find another place for not one but two group parties, very unprofessional of Dimitri, who didn’t have the decency to...
