Loved! Will definitely come back!
Food: My favourite was the Savoury Quinoa. Wow, it was such a refreshing bite of spring. Don't miss this one! My husband and I adored it! We both loved the Chicken Sandwich (the one with the roasted red peppers and pesto mayo). We also tried the Grilled Veggie Wrap (eggplant). My husband loved this, but I didn't like the squishy eggplant inside. He also enjoyed the pasta salad with sun-dried tomatoes. The caramel carrot cheesecake surprised me at how good it was! Ask for more of the caramel topping on the cake on the side. Beautiful touch!
Atmosphere and Kids: It is both modern, hip, and also old-fashioned. They have early style light bulbs that are incredibly unique. It looks like they want to attract friends getting together and sitting on leather couches to chat and eat. They have a kids menu, but it appears that they are mainly trying to court the adult crowd. You could definitely bring kids here, though; it's not fancy. The music is a bit louder than most chain restaurants, but it's not overly loud.
Prices: They are reasonable as long as you stick to the handheld menu. $11.50 for a sandwich + $5 for a side + tax.
Portion sizes: For the handheld menu plus a side salad, they aren't big. It is just enough to satisfy you though. You won't be coming home with leftovers though.
Time: We were there for about 1 hour and 20 minutes. We took about 10 minutes to decide on our menu choices, and we were waiting for them quite a bit of the time. It looked like they had very low staff, for the time we picked.
Staff: Wonderfully kind and thoughtful!
Services Offered: Takeout, dine-in, and catering. We got in without a reservation, but we arrived as soon as it opened. I saw one reserved table eventually.
Event Room: They have an event room upstairs which is used for bingo on Thursday nights. It is an event space that can be used by a variety of groups for rental. Check Instagram.
Wheelchair accessibility: The front entrance is not wheelchair accessible at all. There is likely an entrance at the back because I noticed when we left that there is a parking area at the back of the restaurant. They do have a wheelchair accessible washroom.
Washrooms: They have separate men's, women's, and a wheelchair accessible washroom.
Parking: We parked in the parking lot right across from the Old Post Office which is free, and is right beside EVO's, but it looks like there's possibly a parking lot right behind EVO's. There is some free street parking in some of the...
Read moreWe had our wedding ceremony and reception at EVO Kitchen on May 24th 2025 and it was a perfect experience from beginning to end. We did not have a wedding planner, or any idea what we were doing, but we started our planning journey with EVO based on a recommendation and from there everything fell into place.
Taryn who runs events at EVO went above and beyond at every step, so helpful and kind. I really cannot speak highly enough of her support throughout this process as well as all other staff members we interacted with before and during our wedding day. Especially the serving and bar staff were exceedingly sweet on the day. We can't wait to go back for other events and we hope one day to get to attend a wedding here as a guest.
About a year before the wedding we attended EVO's "Wedding Open House" event where we met our photographer and officiant - there is a great network of wedding vendors in this community many of whom were involved in each others weddings and it makes you feel like you are in great hands (which we were!).
They have many different options for how you want to set up your day, we decided to have our guests sit in their dinner seats for the ceremony so that we would not have to move things around before dinner - though that was a definite option for those who prefer a more traditional set up. We chose the buffet-style dinner which was a big hit - however the appetizers that were brought around were so delicious and filling that a few of our guests actually had thought that was dinner! So no shortage of great food... We also had the bar open throughout (from a pre-ceremony cocktail hour through dinner and dessert) and actually wrapped up the reception at 9pm even though we could have stayed until 1am (we chose to host a more casual after-party for guests who enjoy a late night).
We really appreciate their patience and assistance with our slightly-non-traditional wedding and the venue itself is exactly our style. As well being able to take pictures around this beautiful area in Cambridge was...
Read moreI'm so saddened by our experience here. My husband and I have never left no tip until today. 15%+ is our standard because I can't even imagine working in the service industry and I have a lot of empathy for how stressful it must be.
That said, I've been wanting to visit Evo for years, ever since we attended a friend's wedding held there. For that wedding experience, I would give them 5 stars. For this dining experience - I can't offer more than 2. The food we actually received was delicious and the servers were very kind, but those were the only positives to note.
Initially we came to try the stuffed chicken. We found out it wasn't served until after 4pm - okay, I get that. It was 230. So instead, we ordered 2 drinks, the satay & a flatbread to share. Our 4 year old ordered grilled cheese.
We got the drinks, then watched everyone around us, including those just walking in, get food before us. 30 minutes later the server approached us to say the satay wasn't up to kitchen standards and asked if we wanted something else. We didn't, so we said we'll just do the flatbread. We finally ate "lunch" almost 1.5 hours after we arrived. Wild. We almost paid for our drinks and left. When we finally left, it was after 4pm. I could have ordered what I initially came for (the stuffed chicken) to go but at that point I was visibly annoyed, as was my husband and our toddler.
I completely understand if the wedding upstairs (I think there was a wedding starting) had first priority and was stressful for staff - but I don't think the restaurant should have been open if it wasn't possible to ensure restaurant guests were taken care of as well. Just so confused by our experience in light of the great reviews and the wedding...
