My wife and I were visiting Cambridge for the first time. Around 3.30 pm we saw this restaurant with patio seating, Thirteen and went there. We waited for quite some time, until a waiter, a young bearded guy, said he'd take care of us. There were a couple of tables in the shade; a couple that was seating at one of the tables decided they wanted to move to one in the shade instead of where they were seating once de food arrived. Which they did, they moved from a table for 2 to a table allegedly for 4. There was another table for four in the shade. Meanwhile the waiter told a lady , who clearly arrived after us, to seat at a table for two in the shade, closer to the door that leads to the inside of the restaurant. He then offered us a table in the sun, it was steaming hot, we are seniors. So we said why not the other table in the shade. He said they only seat four not two on those tables, however the couple seating at the table for two were changed to a table of four in the shade. How does this restaurant apply rules for everyone? Could it be that he heard us speaking in Spanish and we lost any consideration? There were no other customers waiting in line, so he could have easily assigned us to that table, it was already late for lunch. Nobody could seat in the sun at 3.30 pm on a steaming hot Sunday. Rather than offering us a solution, he just said sorry guys...no other options given as a solution, such as "would you want to try it inside"?? Such a bad customer service to be honest. He almost felt relieved we were leaving. If that's not the intention, that's what really transpired with his way of handling the situation. We are not ones to complain, more so to praise, but this really....we can't let go.
And again, I wonder if perhaps the fact that my wife an I were speaking in Spanish (our native language) to each other made us unworthy of sitting at a table for four as the other younger couple and the lady alone. Doesn't speak good about diversity?
To be honest, if it is the first time since we moved to Canada 22 years ago that we felt discriminated for not being a English native speaker, the management of this restaurant should teach their employees to have a better customer service, unless the discrimination comes from them.
We ended up having a nice lunch at the other corner of the street. Local Eatery, they aren't a restaurant per se, but so friendly and...
Read moreFood was good but the service I received made my friends and I feel uncomfortable. The waitress was very dismissive, annoyed, and very distance. I was very unimpressed because I enjoy the atmosphere of this restaurant however after that experience I am hesitate to return. An example of the service would be turning her back when we are asking her stuff or walking away before we are done talking. My friends and I are not oblivious to someone that does not want to around us. We were polite and respectful and did not receive the same energy back. Another example was when we were paying she would hand the machine individually to us but walk away to the front of the restaurant after every person paid. âHand the machine overâŚ.walk awayâŚ.take 5 minutes to come backâŚ..then hand the machine to someone elseâŚâ was very irradiating because there was 4 of us. To be in an environment where someone visible does not want to be around you is not the environment I recommend. Iâm not sure if it was because my friends and I are in our middle 20s but that should not change the service! Very unimpressed as it was the first patio we went to for the season. I donât want to judge one waitressâ service as a representation for the restaurant. But I will be keeping my distance because service...
Read moreThe place is at a great location and we sat on the patio since it was jazz festival and the vibe was great. Ordered food for a family of four. The food arrived very late and we understand such things. However, the chicken wings smelled and tasted weird. I had ordered a quinoa burger and it arrived cold inside out. We asked the server to fix the food since we were hungry and wanted to enjoy our meal. The food was taken inside and after 5 minutes a lady comes out and says " Before I waste money on preparing fresh dishes, can you explain what is wrongâ. I was taken aback by this opening however I explained that the burger was super cold and the wings tasted off. To which she argued that to her the burger was fine and she tasted wings and nothing was wrong. I did not want to escalate things, so I just told her to not prepare anything and that I will pay and eat what we have. There was not an iota of customer service shown by her and she went away saying she will not charge for those 2 things. I would not want to visit a place that feels they can show customers...
