My partner and I had the pleasure of eating at the new location of Johnny’s Jukebox last Saturday for lunch and amazing doesn’t cover how good the experience was.
The 1950’s decor is super cool and picture worthy. I took so many pictures! Seriously, even the ladies bathroom is beautiful. The light fixtures, wall decor, tables, booths, everything is very rockabilly and colourful, they have thought of every single detail, right down to the silverware!
I would have loved it just for the decor but when the food came out, and we took our first few bites, I knew they had something special here. It was so good that I called my adult children and had them come and join us so they could try it too! It was a worthwhile experience for sure!
We had the Jukebox Burger, onion rings, Dirty Poutine (with the pulled pork), eggs Benedict, pepper burger, espresso milkshake, and mint chocolate chip ice cream. Oh and the coffee! I don’t drink coffee but my partner and son loved it so much that they both suggested to the owner that they should charge more as their prices are so cheap!
Their burgers were juicy and delicious, onion rings are beer battered and crispy, pulled pork was so flavourful, the hollandaise on the eggs benny was probably the best I’ve ever had, and their milkshakes are made with real ice cream (so delicious, but not lactose friendly lol!)
The owner and her staff were all super friendly and helpful, albeit they were super busy because the place was full! Not a bad problem to have that’s for sure! They have only been open for a little over a week, so I cannot wait to see what they do, as I think it’s going to be a great success! I will definitely be returning, and have been recommending Johnny’s Jukebox to all our friends!
Apologies for the poor picture quality but I was so impressed and excited that it just got away from me, I took so many pictures! Also, I didn’t take pictures of our food until after we tried it, so their presentation was a lot better than...
Read moreThe atmosphere is a good 9/10 and the service is definitely 10/10.
The food was subpar. The clubhouse sandwich bread was hardly toasted and felt more like dried out bread. The chicken was good in that it was actually chicken and not processed meat. The bacon was probably cooked the night before. It was fairly dry - hardly any mayo on it - and cold. The french fries weren’t very hot.
The Johnny’s hot dog was on a hoagie style bun but too big for what filled it. Scant amount of sauerkraut and only 4 slivers of onion, a couple drops of ketchup. The bun didn’t seem to be buttered and because there was hardly any filling - made it seem very dry. It was a cold untoasted bun and the weiner was only just warm. I requested them to take the weiner back to heat up but they said they would make me a whole new hotdog.
Unfortunately the second one was just “warm” as the other one and the bun was worse and although was browned - it was very stale and dry. I should have kept the previous bun which although dry - was fresher. The second bun was so stale and chokingly dry I couldn’t eat it. There was even less filling than the first - it had 2 sprigs of onion and a very tiny amount of sauerkraut I couldn’t find it - I ordered more on the side so I could have something on the dog. I don’t believe there was any butter on the bun at all - which would have been ok if there was some sauce or filling - anything to make it flavourful and less dry. They doubled the amount of bacon but the bacon must have been cooked the night before - it wasn’t great - cold and not much flavour. Both my fries and my husband’s fries were medium warm.
Overall it was a real disappointment and we...

The staff? Super friendly and welcoming. Our server was upbeat, attentive, and genuinely seemed to love working there — which added to the overall positive energy. They were also great with kids and families at nearby tables, which speaks volumes about the service culture.
I also have a few food allergies and the chef and server went above and beyond to double check labels and find what I could and could not eat. They were so lovely and patient!
