Up until about two years ago, we'd visited about twenty times. The food is not better than most Viet, but it was always what we'd expected.
Why did we stop visiting? Simple...if an establishment has a minimum fee, they should inform their patrons of it prior to ordering, not after. We would typically order full meals, but this once (and last time) we snacked, then learned we had to pay extra because we didn't order above the minimum.
Is this a big deal? Well, it doesn't say much about maintaining long term customer relations. Nor does it say good things about the degree management is in charge. When these two pieces aren't in place, I get the sense the restaurant is taking my money, while also doing me a favour--not at all how I see the patron/restaurant relationship as working at its best.
Further, assuming the management of this restaurant has forgotten who the real boss is, and is really just doing its patrons a big favour, I question their commitment to their patrons.
So it's not the two or three bucks we were overcharged, and that they wouldn't do a turnaround on this policy for regular patrons. Instead, it suggests a lack of respect for their clientele, and who knows how this kind of attitude might manifest in the day to day runnings of a food service establishment?
In short, these short term thinkers received their surcharge but lost hundreds of dollars in return business. This evidenced lack of clear thinking on their part suggests to me there might be a lack of clear thinking in other important areas of their show. And, I, for one, won't take that...
Read moreI was craving for Vietnamese food and decided to try this place. I was greeted by one of the server who seems very happy to see me at first. I ordered grilled pork, spring rolls on vermicicelli, summer rolls and Jackfruit fruit shake beverage. I waited less than 5 minutes for my food to get to my table. The ambiance was nice, the space is quite spacious, and the bathrooms are somewhat decent.
I was so hungry at that time, so my excitement was all over my face when the food arrived in my table. I was so polite and thank them for the food.
I immediately grabbed the spring rolls and dipped it in the PeanutButter sauce. I was not really impressed on both the summer rolls and the peanut sauce. The summer rolls were a bit jerky. not sure if that is actually a term to describe but I felt like eating rubber.
The spring rolls was crunchy and it tasted so plain and the sauce for the rolls tastes like water with a bit of spices to add some color.
I decided to try my vermicelli and the grilled pork, hoping that it will give me some hope that this will be at least decent grilled pork in town. When I finally tried it, I felt sick as my excitement slowly fades and replaced it with instant disappointment. I was not really pleased, and the server noticed it when she saw my plate that I barely touched.
My fruit drink however, tastes really good. I don't know maybe I was just hungry and it tasted sweet. I left the place unsatisfied.
Overall experience, I would say 5 out of 10.
Hopefully, they will put more flavor and more passion when...
Read moreI'm Vietnamese, I've been eating Vietnamese food my whole life, I think I'm a pretty good judge of the stuff. Since discovering this place about a year ago, it's become my go to Vietnamese restaurant. The quality of the broth is AMAZING. It's the kind of good that makes your eyes roll back in your head a bit on the first sip. The chicken curry, the traditional beef stew, the chicken with lemon grass, and even the wonton soup (Yes, wonton soup in a Vietnamese restaurant), all AMAZING. My only complaint is that the food is so tasty, whenever I eat at other Vietnamese restaurants now, I'm finding the experience a little disappointing because they're not as good.
This is the kind of food my grandmother would make at home. It's all in the details. They don't skimp on the little things that give the food it's extra flavour. Even the fish sauce that's served with things like the meat and rice dishes and spring rolls. Go compare the fish sauce here to how other restaurants make it. This place adds those little extras like garlic and chili paste to their fish sauce. Most places don't, probably to save time and money. Grandma would never omit those things.
Everything is just noticeably better here, more like...
