AWFUL service....actually NO SERVICE. Made reservation for 730 May 19th. On the reservation platform they warn you not to be more than 10 minutes late as this was their "grace period" and will only hold the reservation for 10 minutes if you are late. I wish they gave their customers the same consideration. We used to go to the old location about once every couple of months. Decided to try the new location and sat down in our booth 10 away from the host desk that was staffed by two hosts. It was 731. Restaurant was 3/4 full. Sat us down and gave us menus. We pretty much already knew what we wanted and almost closed the menus right away. 5 minutes later one of the host noticed we had not been attended two and dropped off two waters. Didn't say anything like, "I'll get your server here" or "can I start you off with a drink". Dropped the water and left barely making eye contact and returned to his host desk with the other host. Don't really know what their function was but not doing a whole lot. After sitting there for twenty minutes (I checked the time) I motioned over to the host who had graciously given the of water and said, "You know we haven't had ANY service." With this he said, "Oh...I'll look after that." He then disappeared. Never observed him instructing any server to serve us. Did spot him running out some food a minute or two later. We had servers continually walk by our table and their priority seemed to be dealing with the takeout. One server walked by our table at least 20 times. Other servers walked by numerous times as well. I understand that it may not have been their section but they made it really clear to us that they wanted to avoid any contact. We were sitting there dumfounded. After five minutes passed we still had not received any service. Even though both the hosts were standing at the host desk 10 feet away gazing over the restaurant with such self importance. (Doesn't sound like a long time but it is when you are actually waiting.) We decided to get up and leave and I told the hosts that the service was awful and we had been waiting for service for 25 minutes and nothing. I told them we were a long time customer and won't be returning. There was an aura of arrogance from both the male hosts. They barely apologized. Dolts! If I was the owner of Poseidon I probably would have fired both of them. You would think they would have more self awareness as a team in the restaurant to work together and when you see something going wrong then fix it but not so. AWFUL AWFUL service and arrogance. Went down to Galinis and had great food...
Read moreI had been going to their original restaurant location for a number of decades, enjoying the patio tables when the weather was warm. Loved the atmosphere of an old established business. The food had always been top quality and sufficient quantity for the price. Service was "ok" when it wasn't packed with people.
In my last visit, I drove up to the old location only to discover they had moved! The new place, just across the street seemed larger and cleaner and well....new! Parking wasn't an issue any more.
We were greeted by a well-dressed tall refined gentleman, with an intriguing and welcoming accent. Made you feel like you were coming into a high-class establishment and were most welcomed. Seated quickly, drink orders taken, we waited 28 minutes for our roast lamb dinner.
We ordered wine with dinner, something I don't do often anymore, as the prices for a 9 oz. glass of wine are absurdly high. Liquor prices in B.C. have reached the point where their perceived value no longer equals the cost. The roast lamb is still the best I have ever tasted with a sufficient compliment of perfectly cooked in-season vegetables. Always far too much rice on the plate, where a few fork-fulls are enough for me, but usually the plate is cleaned of every delicious morsal of food. The special Greek dessert was fantastic, I just wish I could remember what it was called, but it was not overly sweet and melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
The atmosphere was good, not too noisy, not as intimate as the old place, but nice nevertheless. The young waiter was polite and attentive, overall the service was good.
You need reservations for sure, as it's a popular place to enjoy a fine Greek/Mediterranean dinner. It is a regular treat of mine for the special...
Read moreReally disappointed. After our favourite Greek place removed a our go to meal from the menus we decided to go try somewhere new. We have also decided we won’t ever be back.
The server did a amazing job and the portions are huge. The place has a nice vibe. However the food was not good for the price we paid.
My boyfriend ordered a surf and turf steak dinner asked for it done medium. We waited 45 minutes for dinner and it was busy but not to busy there were a lot of empty tables inside and outside. The steak came a little over done and my boyfriend is never that guy who complains about his meal especially if it’s not perfect but it was way to off. So they took it back to the kitchen and 5 minutes later brought his dinner back. The first few bites were perfect but once he got to the middle of the steak it was almost rare. I have never seen him send food back and never once has he left a restaurant without eating his whole dinner whether it was was perfect or not. His plate was almost just a full as when they gave it to him. He said the shrimp skewer was perfect tho that was the only thing he really ate.
As for me I always go for one lamb and one chicken Soulvaki. The chicken one was good. The lamb was ok but I hate fatty meat and the whole thing was almost all fat. The veggies were mushy but I enjoy all veggies almost so I ate them. The potato was the worst and I love Greek potato it’s my favourite part of the dinner. I only ate half of one.
The meal was very expensive especially when we sent one whole dinner back almost un eaten. You would think you would get some sort of compensation on your bill. But we didn’t. And we...
