Been here a few times (probably 7 times so far). Service is pleasant - didn't have any expectation for it to be amazing. Ambience is decent. The food is generally decent, but there are some dishes can be hit-or-miss. Ranking them from best to worst:
Clam Kalguksu (5/5): This is a must order. Probably the best dish out of all the things I've ordered here. Generous portions of clams and noodles. Love this. Their lunch special makes the entire deal even better.
Eggroll (with Cheese) (4.5/5): Very egg-y. More on the pricey side after adding cheese, but it's a great appetizer.
Bossam (4/5): Ordered this during two different visits. First time - AMAZING. Flavorful and tender. Second time - A little bit more chewy and it was on the dry side.
Beef Rib Kalguksu (3.5/5): The flavor was there, but the ribs... Not sure if I went at the wrong time or what. It was extremely chewy. I had to tear them off the bone with my bare fingers (chopsticks wouldn't work). Even so, I couldn't really munch them down in my mouth. Perhaps I had the wrong expectations it would just fall off the bone?
Seafood Pancake (1.5/5): I actually had to look up the reviews that had mentioned this dish, and I think some of them also expressed the same problem where it was really undercooked. It had a generous amount of seafood (hence the score), but the batter was executed really poorly - the outside was crisp, but the inside was gooey and undercooked - imagine the consistency of thick oatmeal. Again I'm not sure if my expectations are a little different, but all the seafood pancakes I've had in my life were at least solid inside and not semi-liquid.
Overall I would return for the clam noodles. If it's only for the clam kalguksu, I would have given this...
Read moreMy partner and I visited around 7:30 PM last night.
Although the restaurant wasn’t full, it seemed there were only two servers working, so it took a few minutes for us to be seated. The staff looked quite busy, but they were very polite and friendly throughout our visit, which we really appreciated.
There was a touch panel with prices and photos, which made ordering super easy. I really liked that — having pictures helped us decide quickly without getting overwhelmed by just reading dish names.
As for the food: I’m not Korean and have never been to Korea, so I can’t speak to authenticity. But I can say that the clam noodle soup wasn’t quite to my taste. The noodles had a slightly undercooked texture, the broth had a smell I couldn’t quite get used to, and it felt like the clams hadn’t been fully cleaned. The spicy squid that came with it was just okay — not bad, but not especially memorable. We also had the Korean pancake (chijimi), which was decent.
One small issue: the call button at the table didn’t seem to be working, so we had to wave a server over when we needed something. That said, the staff were kind and attentive once they came.
Location: There’s parking available, and it’s in a fairly accessible spot.
Overall, the service was very kind, the ordering system was convenient, and although not every dish suited my personal taste, I’d be happy to come back and try other menu items...
Read moreI have dined at Nadri Korean restaurant. This new restaurant is running by Nadri, so I definitely wanted to give it a try. It is a very typical Korea restaurant running by Korean. Space is quite big inside. Dining tables and seating areas are considered comfortable.
Their famous dish was clam Kalguksoo. Their broth had a super “clam” flavour. Noodles were thick and chewy that I personally liked them. We also ordered the beef rib kalguksoo. The beef broth tasted great but it was a bit greasy that I could see a layer of oil on the surface of the broth.
I visited this restaurant twice. I ordered their seafood tofu soup. It had a lot of frozen or dry octopus, some claim, a few small frozen shrimps, a lot of tofu, and an egg with soup. The quality was not as well as I expected. I had great seafood tofu soup somewhere else in Burnaby.
The customer service was average. Each table had a bell. If customers needed something, they could ring the bell. A server would come and serve the table. The server was quite efficient.
The pricing was reasonable and affordable. Would I recommend this restaurant to others? Yes. I think so. The restaurant is inside a complex, so don’t need to worry about parking but the parking lot is quite full during the...
