I ordered kids' chicken fingers and fries for my 3 year old and my 6 year old. The fries were dangerously hot for the kids, and after waiting a few minutes, my 6 year old took a bite of one of the chicken fingers and spit it out, saying it was still very hot. I ordered the meatball hoagie with fries and gravy on the side. Upon getting my food, again, the fries were dangerously hot, so I cut one of the meatballs in half and found it to be barely warm. I had my wife check the internal temp of the meatball, and she agreed that it was barely warm. I informed my server, David C, of the problem and he apologized and asked if I would like the kitchen to remake the dish, if i just wanted to eat the fries, or if I wanted to order something else. David C seemed very unsure of himself when questioning me. David C also asked if i would like some bread brought to the table, and i said yes. Upon bringing the bread to the table, David C proceeded to place the bread with butter and a serrated KNIFE down in front of my 3 year old. At this point, it seemed clear to my wife and I that David C was either not trained very well or had little training. I completely understand that he could have been new or that this could even be his first job however, proper training should have been provided especially in regard to safety. It seems pretty Once I received the dish the second time, it was served the exact same way as the first: fries dangerously hot and the meatballs barely warm. Again, I had my wife feel the temperature of the center of the meatball. However, it was the center meatball within the sandwich. She again agreed it was luke warm at best. A lady that I assume was the manager came over and asked how things were this time to which I replied that the fries were once again scalding hot and that the meatballs were cold. She sent the dish back to the kitchen and apologized for the issue telling me that she would have the dish removed from my bill. She then asked if there was anything else she could do. The way she asked me these questions was as if she was looking for me to help her figure out what to do. At this point, I was hungry and frustrated and just wanted to leave and get my kids home to bed. After paying my bill, I noticed that on the bill I had been charged for 2 meatball hoagies and had 2 of them removed, but was still charged for the gravy on the side that I only dipped two or three fries into because I was hungry. My wife and I both being in customer service for over 15 years were both very disappointed in the overall experience at this newmarket/east gwillimbury location. After not giving us any warning as to the temperature of ours or our kids' food (as many other restaurants do if they're particularly hot), not being able to properly "reheat" meatballs, receiving 2 meals with the same issue, the "deer in headlights" look when the manager came to talk to us, the server being so unsure of what to do when it was mentiond the food was cold, and placing in knife directly in front of my 3 year old, all of this together just made this whole experience at East Side Mario's in Newmarket/East Gwillimbury Ontario dissatisfing enough to never want to return to this...
Read moreWe came here in October to celebrate a brithday. Upon being seated we requested the server to advise us if we order any food to makesure it dose not come in contact with bacon or pork. I don’t know if we were being pranked but everything we ordered ended up having bacons added to it.
The garlic bread you get with the arrival also had for no reason bacon added to it. We called the server and pointed it out. She took it back and brought back normal garlic bread.
Once the meals arrived my son’s pizza which is custom built also had bacon on it. At this point I have lost my mind and felt like I’m being recorded for some sick prank show.
I showed my server she seemed to be confused. The owner came out and from what I understood it’s a 2-3 owners combined for this location. I explained to him that due to our ditery restrictions we can only eat seafood or vegetarian options and out of no where we had bacons in most of the meals that didn’t call for us. He informed us that it’s the error or the server as she made notes o. Our meals saying bacon added. He told us she would be fired for this and did nothing to compensate the meal that had bacon and we had to wait 30 minutes to get the repeat order without bacon.
Also you can see the picture of the popping bubble drink and what we received.
Please keep In mind we have been going to east side Mario’s on a regular but at the Aurora location. But sadly after this interaction my kids and family understand that we will never return.
For the owner to have the opportunity to witness such incidents occur where the guests loose their appetite and not finish their meals and for him to just blame the server and dismiss...
Read moreIt had been years since I last visited East Side Mario’s, and overall, it was a nice experience. We were waiting a bit to be sested and then greeted a little abruptly at the door, but the young hostess was kind—she just seemed a bit distracted, as if something was on her mind. I mentioned privately that we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday, and she kindly told me he would receive a complimentary dessert. Unfortunately, that never happened, and I was too shy to ask about it.
Our waitress was pleasant, and another staff member who brought us our food, went out of her way to double-check my order. I had requested gluten-free pasta but my dish also came with veal parm, which was breaded. She kindly asked if I was Celiac and wanted to make sure I was aware there was still gluten in my meal. I let her know it was just an intolerance, and I’d be fine—but I really appreciated her thoughtfulness and concern!
The atmosphere was great, and I loved seeing the robot that sometimes delivers food to tables—it was such a fun touch! Our meals were tasty, and of course, we enjoyed the all-you-can-eat soup, salad, and bread. As we left, a few staff members said goodbye, which made the experience feel warm and welcoming.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit. The prices were very reasonable for the portions, and we left feeling full and satisfied. The only disappointment was that my boyfriend never received the birthday dessert we were told about. Still, I would recommend East Side Mario’s for a casual and...
