Booster Juice — Restaurant in Edmonton

About 2 months ago, I Went in to this location (which is literally 150m from my house) to get my usual regular funky monkey drink. I had gone in to this new store many times before. As you all know, a regular booster juice is approx $7. When I get 2-4 drinks each visit, it can add up. I was a regular here.

During this visit in particular, There were 3 other customers in the store, with 2 visible employees behind the counter. There was a customer in front of me ordering. While I was waiting in line, I noticed one of the staff members whom was making the drinks, lick/suck on her fingers. Yes, you read that right. Now I don’t know about anybody else, but I don’t appreciate someone doing that (especially in front of customers) and not washing their hands. I concentrated on this employee to see if she would wash her hands before making the next drink. To my disgust, she did not...I couldn’t believe it. In my life, I hadn’t seen such unsanitary practice. I’ve been in the food & customer service industry for over 13 years. I’ve never seen that level of unsanitary and unprofessional act.

As soon as I saw this, I dropped my jaw, turned towards the door and proceeded to walk out. I looked back before exiting, and noticed the said employee staring at me.

I immediately got into my car and called the location I had just left. the employee who did the unthinkable answered. I explained that I was calling so she wouldn’t be as embarrassed, as I didn’t make a big deal in the store. I explained that I saw what she did and she said “yes I saw you leave”. And I told her that what she did was unsanitary and should never be done, especially at a booster juice!! She proceeded to tell me it’s okay, and that she wouldn’t do it again. She was so unapologetic. I had to make a bigger deal over the phone as the conversation went on, for her to realize what she did was definitely not okay!!! Wow.

I got home and called booster juice head office. I left the manager in charge of a few stores a voicemail. He called me back and I explained everything. To his credit, he was apologetic and told me he had never heard a complaint of that magnitude before and that it was really wrong.

I requested to speak to the owner of the store, as a result of all of this. I was told he was out of the country. When I asked the district manager (?) again that I felt it was right the owner reach out to the customer, seeing as how nobody else did much of anything. I was told something along of the lines of the owner doesn’t really call customers and he’s not approachable. Basically, lol. What a joke.

The end result? I got 4 reg drinks. After hundreds of dollars spent, and probably the most disgusting act of unsanitary filth I’ve ever seen, the manager sent me 4 drinks. It’s not even about monetary value. But really? I even told the manager who called me that I would give them an opportunity to do something to redeem themselves. The owner too good to call a customer after something this serious? Even a store manager. Heck, that lady may have been the store manager for all I know!

Unbelievable. What a joke of a company. Closest one to me after this location is Londonderry. No moore booster juice for me and...

First and last time coming to this location. I went to pick up a drink for someone, walked in and the 2 employees were setting up some Christmas stuff. Didn't greet me, didn't say they'll be a minute. Nothing. Waited for about 5 mins before one of the lady's walked right by me, directly to the till without washing her hands or anything. Thankfully for the drink they don't physically touch anything but for food I'm sure they do. If I was ordering for myself I would have walked out. Also didn't apologize for the delay, just stood there till I ordered my drink which turned out wrong as well.

Avoid this location at all costs. I'm sure this location has lost a substantial amount of business from the terrible customer service. Being a consultant, there's alot that could be changed to get to the standard of any other booster juice I've been too...
