Update as of April 24, 2024:
The service is still slow. I placed an online order and went to pick up the drinks (the estimated time was 15 minutes for pick up). When I arrived, there were about 6 customers who had ordered drinks ahead of me. I had to wait about 45 minutes for my drinks this time. The sole employee was taking all online and in-person orders and making all the drinks. The poor guy was deeply apologizing to everyone once he eventually made and handed them their drinks. Whoever is managing this branch - have you worked the front lines and been in this employee's shoes? Dealing with both the front end (cashier and taking orders) and back end (prepping and making drinks) is incredibly demanding for one person to manage during busy and peak periods. My ask for the manager of this branch - schedule another staff member so there are two people assisting one another. Please show more respect to your employees.
Update as of September 20, 2022:
The service is still slow. There is now only one person working at any given time. This employee is taking online orders, in-person orders, taking phone calls, and making the drinks all at once. The manager on duty needs to get two people to work at any given point. This is also a safety issue, leaving one person by themself.
Update as of May 2, 2019:
The service has consistently been very slow. There is always only two people working, and they keep pushing orders without completing drinks. It has taken them over 25 minutes to complete my order of a lemon black tea on multiple occasions.
The drinks are always good and consistent - that is what I like about Coco. However, the service is never on par.
The workers always push to sell the large sized drinks. A quarter of the time, they will even ring in a large drink, even though you clearly state that you want a regular sized drink. This time was no different - served by a young Asian male on September 17, 2018 @ 12:08 PM.
Workers need to be trained to not trick their customers into paying for large drinks when they did not order it in the first place. It is a shame that good drinks can be ruined by such...
Read moreGreat drinks but the customer service was the worst. I went there a few times before because their bubble teas were great. And this time, I ordered a lemon yakult at there for once because I have never tried it before. and when I stuck the straw in the bubble tea this time, the cup exploded from the side. I was flabbergasted because this had never ever happened to me before. Now I helped the cashier with the clean up and was wondering if I was getting another one because I stilled wanted the product. However, the cashier told me that I had to pay for another one. I explained to them that it wasn't my fault and honestly I didn't want to sound entitled or whatever because it was an honest mistake. But they blamed everything on me and that I had to pay another drink. Now in all these years, I never had such an absurd service from there and I know this because I work at a customer service industry as well. So finally I asked the cashiers if they could bring a manager. And the best the manager could do was give me a bubble tea instead of giving me what I had ordered in the first place. He was explaining to me that ingredients that it took to make the yakult were expensive or something like that. So what it felt was like that I wasn't even worth a yakult. This honestly pissed the heck out of me. This wasn't even about the money, it's the common customer service courtesy. If I went to star bucks and accidentally spilled any drinks from there, they would replace it for me because that is the basic common customer service. But I really felt like they were blaming it on me and I was seen as just someone who gives money to them. Honestly, I really don't want to go back there after this experience. I don't know where they learned their customer service but seems like it's from nowhere. Just because they are always busy and are making a lot of money doesn't mean that they can treat their customers like that. I truly did not want to write this but this was one of the, if not the worst experience that had...
Read moreIt's nice that we have another bubble tea tea place with consistently good pearls. I'm originally from Vancouver so tend to be quite the critic when it comes to food and drinks. Now, I haven't tried everything on their menu but so far so good.
I did find it a little strange that they won't do 50/50 of the two different tapioca/sago pearls they have. And how they charge an extra $1 to have a large divided into two smaller cups. I found this to be a bit much. All the other places I have ever gone to have never charged me. I have tried a lot of bubble tea from a lot of different cities in North America. (Still need to try it from the place of origin). Can't help but feel the owners must be a bit on the stingy side.
Not a huge selection of tea types but for Edmonton they definitely have some tasty ones unique to Coco that u can't get quite the same elsewhere. I wish they carried types of jellies as well because I love rainbow jelly. It's great that they customize the sweetness and ice, although most of the other places do as well.
I have to agree with a couple other reviews that the cleanliness of the place isn't the best. The washroom was disgusting when I went in there. And though I had one guy who had amazing customer service skills and a couple of ladies that were nice, the others were definitely lacking and came off a little rude.
All in all, I'm glad there's another good bubble tea place in Edmonton!! A couple of other bubble tea places have my drink down and are located closer to me. I would only grab a bubble tea here if I happened to be close by or I was craving one of their unique flavours. And this does happen for me....hahaha! They don't have any food here. It's strictly a bubble tea place!
Another draw back is the parking... I know I've said some negatives here but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. Check it out if u haven't already. For bubble tea, it is probably one of the best...
