I've tried this restaurant several times now, hoping that I'll find something I like there, and/or the service will improve, but it has not gone well.
I'm not sure why they've added dates into pretty much all of their products, and why in some of the items it seems to not be "removable" when requested. The avocado toast has no need to have the weird date spread on it, you don't need to just include dates to make something vegan - especially when the "original" version you're copying was already vegan...
The only thing I've eaten there that has actually tasted nice, and felt like I was able to enjoy it, was the jar of oatmeal - but they put so much milk in it that even an hour later (and lots of stirring) it was a soup, not a porridge consistency. I had to add my own oats from home to make it the right consistency (spoonable instead of drinkable), and this has happened each of the 4 times I've ordered it, even when requesting less milk.
I have also had service challenges there, as I've had to wait 20+ minutes for one jar of oatmeal, when there were ZERO other customers in the store. How is this an acceptable timeline?
I've also showed up during the hours it's supposed to be open (8:15am), to find an employee standing outside trying to call the keyholder and unable to get through to them. Not only can I not count on the food to be any good, I can't even count on it being open during their posted hours.
After really trying to give this place a fair try, over and over again, I just can't keep doing it, and hence the lower rating.
I hope the company takes this seriously and works on improving these issues, but I won't be around to find out - too...
Read moreI recently had a very disappointing customer service experience with kb+co. I stopped in for lunch and grabbed a few cookies to go. I brought the cookies home for dessert after dinner that night. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy them because they were raw. They tasted like raw flour and oil. Completely undercooked and awful. Normally I'd just throw them out and call it a loss, but for $3.50 per cookie I decided to follow up with them. I sent them an e-mail through their website and within a few days heard from the owner, Kristina.
Kristina proceeded to thank me for the feedback, and tell me that she checked the cookies and "they all seemed fine" (so now she's arguing with me that they weren't raw). She apologized and told me "hopefully you'll give them another try". I replied to tell her I was a bit disappointed in her response and I never heard back.
For the high price tag I was hoping for the best vegan cookies I'd ever had. Instead, they were inedible, and Kristina couldn't even offer to replace them. If you serve a sub-par product (whether or not you agree with the assessment), you should be willing to make the situation right. It's just a matter of principle. She should know that it doesn't cost her anything to replace the cookies, and that she's losing more money by losing customers. I really like the other food I've tried there but unfortunately, I won't...

I’ll start by reviewing the food. As a vegetarian myself I would stray away. Far too over priced, and frankly bland. The avocado toast goes for $8 but is absolutely drenched in vinegar marinade. Their salads run for more and the dressings jut aren’t good enough. As someone who does eat plant based regularly this is a poor representation of the possibilities of vegetables. Their desserts are okay, once again wayyyy over priced.
As for atmosphere expect to be surrounded with blaring trashy pop music circa 2012. It just doesn’t work.
“Casual, conscious eats”. What does that say to you? Perhaps does it allude to some aspect of sustainability? At the very least some plant conscious decisions? Well look no further. This place packs EVERYTHING to go. In wax/cardboard containers with plastic cutlery. Even if you’re staying you cannot have a plate. This completely disappoints me. And even if I wanted to recycle the lid or the sleeve of the coffee cup (which don’t waste you’re money on- credo down the street is FAR better) you can’t! This is absolutely ridiculous and a shame for a business branding itself as a “green” “plant based” business. Swallow the pill. Pay for plates and stop...
