Wow BIG BIG disappointment.

This was the 2nd restaurant I took a risk going based on supposedly 4.5-5 star reviews in the thousands. To be fair, those reviews were for their commercial location but I figured how big could the delta be since it is their second location. My risk did not pay off at all.

Pros: service was excellent and a good location, interior was clean and roomy.

Cons:

Food was just AWFUL. Chicken: grossly over-seasoned. When I asked for the Medium spice level, I was NOT expecting them to be drowning several kinds of herbs and spices on my chicken to the point when I took my first few bites I wanted to puke it was so salty and all I got was a mouthful of seasoning. How is this OKAY? I also didn’t like that the chicken was stored openly under a heat lamp and not in a proper oven, god knows how long the chicken had been out there.

Fries: over seasoned as well, over fried and it just wasn’t fresh. Stale fries. Threw it out after a few bites.

Slaw: I threw the whole thing after 1 bite. Who ever decided that cumin seeds and vinegar were going to be good combo in a slaw? Awful fasting and the salad had a brown tint on it again not sure it was fresh.

Go to a K fried chicken place for fresh made-to order chicken and they don’t season with a million diff spices so the actual fried chicken flavour can...

RAW. Very disappointingly raw. I loved the commercial location and now that they had opened another shop up in my community I was so excited to try it. I got not a little raw and needed to be cooked a little bit longer chicken but VERY FULLY RAW chicken. It was really disappointing and I was shocked at how this could happen. It was very bad and super unsafe. I was exhausted from my exercise and didn’t eat all day so I was starving. So I got DL chicken to eat and ate it while watching Spider-Man. I guess I wasn’t paying attention until the texture got really weird, and then looked down to see full on raw chicken… I was horrified, spat it all out, and tried to induce vomiting bc i didn’t want that in my body :( i wasn’t successful… I felt absolutely sick to my stomach the next morning and was exploding my guts out. I still feel terrible and kinda sad… however, the staff that talked to me when I went back to show them were very nice and was not any of their faults but the fryers. The manager Connor was very nice and really sorry and I told him it wasn’t his fault. The staff at DL UBC are pretty awesome. Just an unfortunate mistake… I hope it never...

Came here tonight with some friends for an event so decided to have dinner here beforehand. It's my first time here, but my 3 friends have been here before. The atmosphere and energy in the place was fun and upbeat. When I told the cashier it's my first time, please explain to me the level of spicy that comes with the chicken....he yelled "we got a first timer here!", and everyone in the back kitchen started shouting and cheering. That was different and created a fun atmosphere. Let's get down to the chicken review 😋. I ordered 2 piece with fries for $16.90, since I already had a drink in hand from somewhere else. I got it medium spicy. The chicken came with a slice of white bread underneath!? I was too carbed out to eat the bread. The seasoning and spice on the chicken was very tasty. It wasn't spicy at all, I liked the aroma. The fries were over fried, cause I don't taste the potato in it. Fortunately the seasoning made it easier to eat, so because of that I gave 5 stars for food since there's no 4.5 stars. My friends all got the chicken sandwich or the waffle burger.....they loved it. Guess next time I will...

Quality service, food, and portion size! The first time I have heard of this chain is from a post from an UBC AMS post on Instagram, and it was super hyped up. I never got the opportunity to try the food until a few days ago because the super long lines in front of the store made me hesitant every time. Once I did, I was pretty surprised with how friendly and helpful the staff were for a burger restaurant. As for portion size, I thought the $17 I paid for the classic sandwich and fries were a scam, but the price matches its portions. I'm known as a big eater, so this is like the first time I didn't finish my meal at UBC. It took me until the evening since lunch time to finish those leftover fries. The burger is absolutely delicious. The crunchiness and slight acidity of the coleslaw topping paired perfectly with the extreme juiciness and spice of the chicken. I absolutely loved that burger. The fries, not so much. I think I would prefer fries of other fast-food restaurants like A&W over this. Ultimately, if you are looking for a grandiose burger lunch, this is the perfect place to go. I only know the burger is super worth.
