I ordered Wacky Wings for the first time yesterday while stopped in Sudbury on our trip home.
We were very hungry after driving 10 hours, and really wanted some good chicken wings as I had a craving.
We drove by Wacky Wings, and decided when we got to the hotel (4 minutes away) that we would go pick up some wings.
I ordered two different sauces for my wings, and my girlfriend got two other kinds.
I ordered Hot as Megan fox and Spiced Apple Butter Rum BBQ.
She ordered cheddar dry and dill pickle dry,
The minute the order was placed they called me to let me know the Apple butter rum wasn’t Avaiable so I get 40 creek instead.
I can understand running out of sauce as they were pretty busy, but that is not why I’m giving them a 2 star rating.
On arrival, walking in, not being greeted, they were just calling out order numbers, and must have thought I was someone from skip.
They were giving attitude and pretty well yelling “ughhhhh” when no one came up to the counter for the numbers they called, all in all they seemed very unpleasant and frustrated at the people coming to pick up the wings that are spending their money at the restaurant they are working at.
After receiving my order, paying with a small tip, it came to a total of just over 50$ for 2 and a half lbs of wings.
Getting back to the hotel (4 minutes away), and extremely hungry, I was ready to eat these wings and I was really excited for a spicy flavour I’ve never tried before. I always heard wackys was the best for spicy wings.
Boy was I ever disappointed when I opened up my wings to find my hot as Megan fox wings were so soggy and wet that it was pretty well going through the cardboard.
I’m not sure what kind of sauce it was, but it was super runny and I’m assuming the wings just absorbed it all, and were the soggiest wings I’ve seen.
Trying to pick one up, the wings literally squished with finger imprints and just turned to mush.
After trying them (I know, why would I do that), I couldn’t even finish half a wing, it was just wet mushy breading that would fall off,
I don’t know if this just the type of sauce, or maybe the wings just weren’t crispy before,
But working in a restaurants for over 10 years, I can honestly say, I’ve never seen someone send out wings that were soggy and...
Read moreBooked a reservation around noon for a party of 20 on the patio for 6pm, on a Monday because that's generally a slow day and I considered that when booking. Arrived on time but the our tables weren't ready, there was also nobody else on the patio and the dining room was pretty empty. After a wait, we got seated. Waited another 20 minutes for a server to take our drink order. You could tell she was overly enthusiastic to be at work! (Sarcasm). I don't mean to call her out, but generally servers are friendly and welcoming, or so I thought.
Waited another 20 minutes at least for the drinks to arrive. Some people in our party peeked inside and there were still less than 5 tables of people and our server was chatting with coworkers. Drinks arrive! Yay! Oh, but we still can't order our food for another 20 minutes. Where's our server? Our singular server, for a party of 20ish people on the otherwise empty patio. Oh great, it's 7pm, an hour after we've arrived and we can finally order our food! Thankfully, the kitchen staff were on top of things and we got our food pretty quick, considering how many people we had. I'll always be forgiving to kitchen staff, but bad service is just not okay, you kinda have one job. The food is fine, nothing fancy and fairly priced. If you like plates though, steer clear. Most things are served on cutting boards and in frying pans? Not their fault, it IS a chain and they can't control that!
We get our food around 7:30, but once it's dropped off, the server is not to be seen again. No plates are cleared. Takeout containers are not offered. Drink refills are not a thing apparently? We had lots of children with kids meals ordered and the "free cookie" was never given. Since our server disappeared forever, everyone left and paid separately inside, some of us stayed to play games and our table wasn't even touched for at least 30 minutes.
All in all, the FOH needs way more attention. The food and kitchen staff killin it behind the scenes is only one part of a great restaurant experience. Services every 20 minutes is not okay. And consider more than ONE cranky server for a...
Read moreGoing downhill quick. This used to be my favorite place in town with an unlimited option. A couple of years ago they switched wing providers and no longer have big meaty wings.
Went in recently for non wings on a Wednesday and had a terrible experience. Ordered the waffle fry nachos and they didn't come out until after my girlfriends wings and they were BURNT and obviously picked through to remove the more burnt bits. Took about 10mins to flag my waiter down as he kept walking past looking the other direction. Finally had it sent back and it took another 25mins for a new round. The entire 2hr I was there I had 2 glasses of water, over 75% of the time spent there my glass was empty on the edge of the table. I ended up needing to call the waiter back after he dropped off a round of wings for my girlfriend to please give us drink refills. If our cups are on the edge of the table we shouldn't need to ask. The seats at the tables move when people walk by, not just a little, enough to feel uneasy. Table next to us was over served alcohol and absolutely plastered yelling at the top of their lungs, which made everyone talk louder. I couldn't hear my gf across the table.
Ontop of all of that, after making me wait upwards of 40mins for my food, they didn't comp my Salad... Infact, they didn't give me the "side salad" I specifically asked for and instead charged me $7.50 for an appetizer Salad.
Safe to say, I'll be staying away from Wackys. This used to be my favorite spot where I'd go 2-3x a month, now I don't even...
