Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin — this place is something else. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted like family. The atmosphere is so warm and comforting, it instantly makes you feel at home. It’s the kind of place where you can feel the love not only in the food but in the people too.
The staff are unbelievably kind and respectful — you can tell they genuinely care about every single customer. They’re always smiling, always attentive, and always going the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. It’s rare these days to find that kind of hospitality, and it touched my heart more than I can explain.
Now the food? Wow. Everything is freshly made, halal, and full of flavor. You can taste the passion behind every dish. Whether you’re in the mood for something spicy, crispy, or comforting, they’ve got it all — and every single bite feels like a warm hug. You can just tell that this isn’t just a business for them — it’s something they put their heart into, every single day.
What makes this restaurant truly special though, beyond the delicious food, is the energy. It’s calm, friendly, and genuine. You walk out not just full, but emotionally recharged. Places like this are rare — and I feel so lucky to have found it.
To the team: thank you for everything you do. You’re not just serving food, you’re creating a space where people feel loved and welcome. I’ll be back again and again, not just for the food, but for the warmth that stays with me long...
Read moreSo I was in the mood for Chinese last weekend and was looking up places on uber where I came across this halal Chinese place, but instead of ubering I just went to the restaurant.
It is one of the most surprising places that I have visited. The atmosphere was very casual and homely it felt as if I'm visiting some relatives, the place was full and kids were playing around. (That's not necessarily bad or good) but it dint give a restaurant feel.
We ordered the dumplings, beef with rice and beef noodles. The dumplings were really good and fresh so was the other food. The serving size was very good and the food light I was full but I dint feel bloated. The cooking seemed simple with simple ingredients but very flavourful the chef even spiced it up for my liking. It was healthy hearty comfort food. It was unlike any Chinese place I have ever visited, also the fact that it's halal is a big plus. However I would have love to see the halal versions of more regular or international Chinese dishes with that traditional touch it would be delectable. Having said that I had to think about the food as my initial impression was quite mediocre but as I ate the leftovers they became more flavourful in the course of a few days which actually made me right this review. I would definitely go again and hope to see more dishes on the menu. This is one of the longest reviews I have ever...
Read moreIf you’re in Halifax and craving authentic Chinese food, GO HERE!!! This place is a gem! The flavors are bold, fresh, and genuinely satisfying. Their lamb dumplings are tender and juicy, packed with so much flavor that you’ll find yourself ordering a second plate. The beef noodles? Absolutely perfect. The hand-pulled noodles have just the right chew, and the broth is rich and comforting.
The portions are generous, and the prices are super reasonable, especially considering how high-quality everything is. Plus, the staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. They’re great at helping you pick something if you’re unsure, and the service is quick, even during busy times.
The ambiance is cozy, making it a great spot for both casual meals and small celebrations. Overall, YiLan hits all the marks—amazing food, great service, and a warm vibe. It’s easily one of my favorite spots in Halifax, and I can’t recommend it enough!
Remember, this is a family-owned establishment and they have their children who spend time at the restaurant. They’re very respectful and don’t bother anyone. It feels like you’re truly eating at home, which is a...
