We went for Motown Night. We are All Huge Motown Music Fans (who isn't ??). Friends of mine being big Motown Music fans as well, arranged for a babysitter for their kids and joined us for a Motown Night Out.... Unfortunately it was a HUGE disappointment.... A Lunch bag Letdown for sure!!!! We arrived They literally played 20 min. of Motown Music, the rest was unrecognizable (meaning probably new) music. Although the place was practically empty the music was so loud we couldn't even yell to one another. We had a few overpriced drinks specials trying to make the best out of things but we felt scammed to be honest. Having planned on a Motown Night out with friends, arranging child care, Ubers and picking a place specifically advertising a Motown night only to discover it was a lie. Why advertise a Motown Night and fill it with 95% of music that WASN'T Motown, or even within decades of a Motown record release??? It just felt extremely dishonest to us. There isn't anything worth checking out there, it's devoid of atmosphere & their advertised music themed nights are just gimmicky marketing ploys devoid of the actual music they are advertising, other than a featured block of that music, they just play what they do every other night, modern dance stuff. If that's your thing, perfect. Just don't fall for the other stuff, it's fake news

Us ladies arrived before 11 and were told its a 5 dollar cover, not free. Im glad I had a screenshot of the original post that somehow disappeared from their Instagram.. the club was almost empty so we left after a couple drinks anyways. we also went to emo night last week and the online tickets were 10 dollars but we were charged 15 at the doors so im not sure if its a communication issue but the ticket lady wasnt happy with us on both occasions 😬

Fantastic events happening at this venue. Theres always somethin for every crowd and every age group. Attended thorgy thor's fruitsnacks edition. Drinks are a little pricey and staff can be slow if its too busy or not full enough. Nice atmosphere and a good design for a 2 floor venue.

Went to Absinthe for “Motown Night” — heard more Kendrick than Marvin. Pretty sure the DJ was just playing his “songs I like while cleaning my apartment” playlist.

It’s 2025 and they’re still cash-only. I had to hit an ATM that charged me a fee so high I’m pretty sure I accidentally financed a Vespa.

Miller Lite was $8.75. I ordered another one at 1 a.m. — suddenly it’s $9.00. Is there a late-night inflation clause? Did the bartender level up mid-shift?

But $10 for a SOL? That’s “I’m on a Tinder date and too nervous to question it” pricing. That’s “I just got a bonus and lost my sense of financial literacy” behavior. They’re pricing SOL like it came garnished with the meaning of life.

Miller Lite for $8.75? Still wild, but at least it’s in the realm of overpriced bar swill. SOL, though? That’s criminal. That’s “we dare you to say something” energy. That’s “ironic mustache tax” territory. You’re not paying for the beer — you’re paying for the idea of Mexico.

No cover, though....

After being both over charged then short changed for a drink I asked the bar tender about my short chance and sudden price increase from $6.75 to $8. She then turned to me and called me an “asshole” and argued with me about me picking up the change while trying to make a tip. The only time I will ever come back to this bar is to identify the ignorant bartender to the owners of the establishment. If negative stars were an option I would greatly give that. If you want to go to a club/drag performance/“accepting” bar, I’d choose else where simply due to the bar staff. This particular bartender was rude, argumentative, and verbally...
