Wow, wow, wow! I was driving around looking for a place to grab lunch and was about to settle on Pita Pit when I came across The Hungry Donkey. The name caught my eye, so I decided to check it out—and I’m so glad I did!

The restaurant is super clean and welcoming, and I believe it was the owner who greeted me. He was incredibly friendly, and when I couldn’t decide what to order, I asked him to surprise me. He quickly whipped up a chicken gyro wrap with all the toppings, and let me tell you—it was absolutely delicious! Along with it, I tried a sour cherry carbonated drink that I’ve never seen anywhere else, and it was amazing.

I absolutely devoured my meal, and I’ll 100% be coming back. If you’re looking for great food and even better service, The Hungry Donkey...

Pork souvlaki was decent, I have had worse and I have had better ones. Salad was decent too. However, I think both are overpriced, as most of the menu is, it seems. For instance, fredo espresso is a simple espresso with some ice, does it justify the $2-3 difference? What ticked me off though was the service. If one is asked for (and gives) a tip, one would expect to be served at the table and not to be called to get it from the counter. Also, the salad should be served on a plate (if dine-in) even if it is a one-use only and not in a tub-like plastic most appropriate for delivery. Would I visit again? Probably not, but if I do definitely no tips, no...

New restaurant around the Westdale block - and I’d say it’s a good addition.

Tried the Chicken Gyro wrap for takeout, and here’s my take. The wraps are quite filling, loaded with fries and have a decent amount of meat. The meat’s flavor was good/average (6/10), the fries were great but there was a whole lot in the wrap to my liking, and the sauce is what I wished there was more of in it.

Service was on the slower side, due to lack of staff I assume.

Overall, I’d rate this joint a 6.5/10 overall - but this would be more like a 7.5/10 in the Westdale area based on what’s around, would come here again for a quick...
