Hanami Sushi & Noodle — Restaurant in Hamilton

Hanami had a great atmosphere, and the food was pretty good too. We had the spicy salmon roll, ramen, and karaage.

The ramen came out quickly and was very tasty, the karaage was a little salty but still good. The spicy salmon roll was too sweet and not at all spicy.

We were seated by a nice young lady who also took our order. A different male server, who we later found out to be a supervisor, brought our karaage and spicy salmon roll. As we tried to make space on the table, he rudely tells us to not move.

As we were finishing up our meal, I had one piece of karaage left to bring home to my mother to try. When the male server came by I asked him for a takeout container for the piece of chicken, and he responds by saying something along the lines of common you guys, it’s just one piece, you can’t finish it? His tone wasn’t joking or playful but more judgmental. I didn’t say anything after that, and he proceeds to turn around and walk towards the other server visibly shaking his head, which I found was just straight up disrespectful. He did come back with a takeout box, where he tried stuffing the paper and all into this tiny box before I had to tell him to please stop and that I would box...

This restaurant is a new gem found at the edge of Westdale.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is bright and welcoming with floor-to-ceiling front windows providing tons of natural light. The furnishing is a mix of light wood (e.g. beechwood) and cushions with some darker accent walls. Overall, it provides a calm and relaxed dining atmosphere.

The menu itself is quite simple - only 2 pages! It features comfortable staples like hand-pulled noodles, rice dishes (e.g. dons), sushi rolls, and torched sushi. I would highly recommend both the Hanami combo platter and Hanami rolls (seen in the photos). The rolls are quite big (more than a mouthful for me), but they are packed with delicious warm flavours. The tonkotsu ramen broth was excellent paired with the hand-pulled noodles.

Lastly, the staff were very friendly and accommodating! The prices are also quite affordable - averaged priced as well in comparison to other Japanese restaurants in the city.

If you’re looking for great Japanese cuisine that delivers both quality and quantity, look no further! This restaurant completely exceeded my expectations in every way. The sushi rolls were massive—honestly the biggest portions I’ve ever had—and absolutely bursting with flavor. Every bite was fresh, satisfying, and beautifully presented.

Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was also top-notch. The staff were professional, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed for a perfect dining experience. The space itself is clean, cozy, and welcoming—ideal for a relaxing meal with friends or family.

Whether you’re a die-hard sushi fan or just looking for a great Japanese meal, you owe it to yourself to try this place. I can confidently say it’s one of the best Japanese dining experiences I’ve had!
