The food here is always awesome. The handmade noodles (la mein), the cumin beef, the vegetable soup, the mapo doufu (Mrs Po's Tofu/Pockmarked lady bean curd, a dish that has history of several hundred years from Chengdu), the Sichuan (Chinese spelling of Szechuan) noodles, ...
If you don't mind some flavor, there's not much you can go wrong with at this shop. One other person has mentioned the food is greasy. That's not accurate. A lot of it's oily, not greasy. It's Sichuan food, and that's normal for Sichuan food; it allows the flavor to spread throughout the food.
The beef cuts they use are catered more for an Asian taste. They're chewy and fatty so as to impart the most amount of flavor.
I've been going to this place regularly since it opened because it's right next door to our office. I've never once had a visit where I had to wait a long time for food. The other fellow that had to wait a long time for food must have just hit them on a really bad day or something. The longest I've had to wait is 15 to 20 minutes, and that was on a super busy day before covid hit for the pineapple fried rice.
They also have another location on Dundas just east of Hurontario. Hamilton is their second location.
This shop is in my top three Chinese restaurants in Hamilton, and quite possibly my number one. My favorite dish here is the dumplings and chili oil. BEST...
Read moreIt’s our 3rd visit, expected to have a decent food. Firstly, when we entered the restaurant we were asked to sit near the door and as it was cold we requested to have another table farther from door and the server was not happy about it and tosses the menus on new table and walks away. Rude customer service* secondly the wonton soup our favourite comes in and we noticed there is a long hair in the soup even before we touched it, I informed this to the waitress and she takes the bowl away and comes back holding the hair and says this might be your wife’s hair ( she was far away from the bowl) again we found the hair even before we touched it. The waitress was very rude and firm that it was my wife’s hair. They said will make another one and here comes the same bowl heated up as we see the soup marks where they pulled hair from the bowl. Unbelievable; (any kitchen staff walked around had no hair nets) we just paid and left, NEVER GOING BACK. THEIR FOOD IS GOOD BUT CUSTOMER...
Read moreI am flabbergasted and obsessed with this place. I feel like I’ve uncovered a hidden gem that I need to share with everyone. 10.99 for a massive bowl of spicy beef sliced noodle soup. The staff is really lovely, their service and ambience makes the food taste even better. I could eat at this place forever. The manager saw me struggling to put my soup in a takeout container and she came over and did it for me without me even asking… just wow. I’ve never experienced service this amicable anywhere. There were only two people working front of house with around 4-5 tables of 4 people + constant Uber Eats orders and they both absolutely killed it. So so so happy with this place.
If you prefer a good amount of protein in your soup, then I would suggest asking for extra. Trust me, they do not hold back 😉
P.S: The picture of the takeout container is after I finished half...
