The Staircase Theatre + Lounge — Restaurant in Hamilton

Poor and not so great experience. Went there yesterday mostly for their patio because it was open. It was a bit windy and cloudy so definitely not the best experience so I’d suggest going on a sunny day. Service and staff was okay. I waited 2 hours to get my food served and to eat tho. One hour of waiting and eventually they brought cutlery to my table and apologized for the slow service and said that the food would be done shortly. 1 hour and 40 minutes in still nothing so my boyfriend went inside to get us some beers because we were literally starving and tired of waiting. They served us the beer without mentioning anything about the food ( even after saying 40 minutes before from that moment that they would bring us our food shortly) so he asked where our food was to which one of the servers replied that they were going to check how long it’d take. 5 minutes after and our server comes to our table and says that the food hasn’t been done yet because they mixed the orders and that it would take 15 minutes until it would be ready. There was at least 5 groups of people that got there after me and left before me. People that ordered after me and that were served before me. We got there at 5:45pm, ordered at 6 and only started eating at 8. Speaking from someone that feels energy, our server had a weird energy towards us for most of the time. They kept looking over at our table while helping and serving other people without talking to us or mentioning anything about our order or how long it’d take, but considering how busy it was I didn’t take it personal. The place itself is very aesthetic in my opinion, mostly inside, and the patio is a nice and chill spot but the seats aren’t the best if you’re tall. My boyfriend is tall and I’m super short I was using platform boots and my legs could barely fit under the table, so imagine his. If you’re tall make sure you pick a table where you can sit comfortably. The food and beer were good. The fries were a bit cold considering we waited for 2 hours but it’s whatever. Not even 5 bites after and we were super full because what we ordered had a lot of sodium and oil plus the beer that we started drinking 20 minutes earlier. The portions are big so they’re good to share with someone. If you’re vegan and love junk food then this is the place for you. We got the Caesar salad, Caesar wrap with fries and nachos. Didn’t get any desserts but everything sounded and looked too good. Regrets! Or not I’d probably feel even fuller and hate myself after. I’ll probably order from them again thru Uber eats but I doubt I’ll go back. My experience wasn’t the best and to be honest I was expecting at least some sort of discount for the 2h wait but guess not because they didn’t even say anything or apologized...

A really good place for private parties/film screenings. Booked for a child's birthday party, and can thoroughly recommend. Wonderful customer service (Matthew), good little theatre and very reasonable pricing. They do not advertise enough, so I only stumbled upon it by a lucky accident!

The only minor caveat is let the cafe know you will be ordering later (it was to be open for us, and it was at the beginning, but somehow it closed mid-way through - I guess we were not ordering enough food/drink for the first hour or so, and the nice man decided we were not interested, so he closed. We were very much interested, later on, so probably should have made this clearer). Also, the cafe does not have plates or cutlery, so bring your own for cake or such (it did not occur to us, so we had to get creative with coffee stirrers, although some paper plates and napkins miraculously appeared to help us out!).

Went here to see The Monsters of Schlock in October with my sister. She has been to other events here and was thrilled to share the experience with me. I was not disappointed! I had however missed the email I had been forwarded about the late show being cancelled. We came in to eat before it.....the staff was quick to figure out (without us saying anything) that this was the case and quickly got us into the early show which was just getting underway and was sure to invite us back to another show in the week at no expense. Top Notch customer service! On our return later that week we enjoyed some cocktails and a Massive Nacho plate that 4 of us had a hard time finishing! Be sure and have their signature...
