Duffy's Neighbourhood Pub — Restaurant in Kamloops

I heard good things about this place and decided to try it out. It was rather dissapointing. The service was probably the worse i have ever experienced. The server (Montana?) literally ignored me. Took her almost 10 mins just to take my drink order, had to wait for ever to place a food order and sat there staring at my obviously empty beer bottle for the rest of my visit without being asked at any time if i wanted another drink. And at that time the pub wasn't even super busy, quite a few empty tables still and 4 or 5 waiters working. She couldn't be bothered to look properly after our table but took her time to sit down at another client's table and had a look at a book that person was reading and talked to other people in the pub while i sat there starring at my empty beer bottle. My food came out lukewarm, it was probably already sitting on the counter for a good while before our waiter finally decided to serve it to us. She never stopped at our table to ask how the food was or if we needed anything else while my empty beer bottle was still sitting in front of me. Same for when it came to get our bill. We waited for ever to get our tabs and then she just didn't show up to let us pay. I had to leave cash on the table because she just wouldn't stop by our table to take the payment. I will not return to this place nor can or will i recommend this pub to anybody.

One of our best dining experiences. They were almost completely full when we came and were very apologetic that drinks and food would be slower than usual. We found everything arriving very fast in comparison to our usual dining experiences. Our waitress was also very attentive and friendly.

The seating was comfortable and atmosphere was nice. For drinks, hub had beer and I had a virgin cocktail. Both were good. The only problem I had was my straw was too narrow to use for the cocktail slush. If they had a larger straw, it would've been more enjoyable. Our waitress tried to accommodate it by offering a spoon and soda to the side.

Food was very tasty. Hub ordered chicken souvlaki and I ordered 8oz steak. Hub said the souvlaki was tasty but could use more seasoning flavor to the chicken as it was on the mild side. The meat was nice and soft. The steak was medium rare, tender, and well seasoned like the flavor had aged in it and it was the best and fresh horse radish I've had with my steak. I enjoyed it so much the waitress offered to pack some for me to bring home. 🥰 Also loved how the mushrooms were cooked! We tried the trio dessert. Visited again a few days ago to see if anything has changed and was happy to see that there have been improvements. There was more waiting staff this time around so service was prompt and friendly, the fries were definitely better, maybe still not quite as crispy as I like, but pretty decent. The food was quite good all around. We had the chicken sandwich, beef dip and the chicken souvlaki (I believe). The only issue was the greek salad had too many peppers and no tomatoes, but that's not a major gripe.

I joined a party on the patio without going inside, so I'm not sure what changes there were done to the decor since the last time, but will upgrade my review next time I go if there have been substantial changes. Last time I found the decor a little dated, and it smelled inside a bit too much like fried food for my liking. The patio, as always is still quite nice.

Overall, definitely going to visit again. Glad to see the place has improved in the few months since my last visit. The fact it's right by the EV chargers is also...
