Wow, just wow! I had the pleasure of grabbing lunch at Gold Leaf Bakery in Kamloops, BC, all thanks to my good friend Steve Wickware's glowing recommendation. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
The place was packed, but they just threw another table in for me like they were making room for royalty – or, you know, someone with excellent taste in sandwiches. Speaking of which, the sandwich? Incredible. It was so good I almost hugged the chef (but, you know, I didn't want to scare anyone). But the soup? Oh. My. Gosh. It was so flavorful, I considered ordering three more bowls just to savor every drop.
And the coffee! If I could bottle that stuff and carry it around like a security blanket, I would. I’d pay double for this coffee and still walk away feeling like I got a steal. It was that good.
If you're in Kamloops and don't stop by Gold Leaf Bakery, are you even living? Five stars, hands down. I'll be back before you can say "Steve Wickware...

They have no prices on the items though, which was weird. I personally like knowing how much I'm spending before picking an item. I tried the chocolate biscotti and a red velvet cake. The biscotti was very good, I dipped it in coffee I made at home. Sadly the cake was very dry. I ate less then half of it and threw the rest away. I was hoping it was just the edges that had been exposed to air after being sliced, but there was just no moisture in the...
Read moreI placed an order for Christmas Eve pickup and also picked up a variety of treats for friends and family from the display. The staff were pleasant on the phone and in person. Everything I purchased was esthetically pleasing and delightful to eat. The macarons tasted fresh baked even a couple days later and cookies soft and delightful. We ordered a Buche De Noel, croissants and macarons for Christmas day, all travelled and stored well on the 2 hr ride to Kelowna. I have frequented many bakeries and French patisseries and no other croissant compared to Gold Leaf, so beautiful and easy to bake at home for Christmas morning. The Buche de Noel was again beautiful and the flavour wonderful. I look forward to more family events so I can...
