I have gone to this location for the last 5 years. I moved from Edmonton to Sherwood park and still continued to drive here even though the Millwoods location is closer. The people have always been SO kind. They knew me by name because I always ordered over $100 dollars worth of sushi and I always tipped VERY well. I have multiple times given 50 dollar tips just because the service is so incredible. Well now there’s new ownership. I ordered over the phone like I always do and I could barely understand what the man was saying. I get there 20 minutes later to get my food (which is ALWAYS done by this time and this time I ordered less because of the weird phone ordering experience) and it’s not done. The man tells me he needs 5 more minutes. I give him 5 and I go back in and there’s a girl giving me a random rice bowl that I didn’t order. So the man comes back over and puts my order in a bag. He states EXACTLY what I ordered and that it’s in the bag. So I pay. I go home and in place of my sushi combo that’s 17 dollars there are 6 mini cucumber sushi rolls which DO NOT cost 17 dollars. I’m so mad. I call them and explain that you charged me for food I didn’t receive. He says he will send it to me via a driver and asks for my address and information. Guess who never showed up at my house? Now this weird man has my address for God knows what reason AND he stole my money since I wasn’t given what I paid for. Worst service ever and also extremely creepy. DONT EVER GO HERE. Go to the Millwoods location where they will acrually give you your food. I miss the old...
Read moreI used to frequent this place a while ago n decided to try it recently. It reminded me why I stopped going I guess. It was an underwhelming experience to say the least, sadly. When I used to go regularly the place had Japanese people cooking which made the food not just authentic but they knew what they were doing. Since I've stopped going n now it's been worse n worse it seems, unfortunately. Owning a restaurant doesn't mean just take over an established place n make it a "profitable" business but when it comes to a restaurant if the quality lowers people will take their business elsewhere, there are always lots of options around the city n sadly, for this location (not sure if all Tokyo express locations) it might go under, for good. A simple salmon rice bowl was not enjoyable. The salmon was overcooked, the soybean sprout salad instead of having a nice seasoning was extremely salty, inedible. The amount of sauce, for the salmon, was underwhelming too. It had been over a year since my last visit to this location n I'm sure that it might've been...

I used to come here a lot for the sushi and bowls. Much of the menu has changed and more so the prices. The costs have substantially skyrocketed and the quality has gone drastically downhill.
The staff are friendly yes but I am deciding to no longer eat at this establishment again. Most of the items on the menu have gone up bu almost 200%, they started moving away from traditional sushi items and into more east indian-japanese fusion, nothing as authentic and also OMG Lay off the salt. The food has gone super salty and lost it's taste. The rice I swear they are using day old rice as it's not event fresh any more. This was my second time in a week eating here and I've been coming here for years. But yesterday was my last straw.
Hate to leave but since this place has gone away from the traditional past of what it used to be I will be going to a new sushi place up the road instead.
Sayonara Tokyo Express. But I'm done eating your over priced...
