I bring seniors at a home out for lunch once a month and we scheduled this restaurant for February. I called 3 weeks in advance and let them know we would be coming with a large group, I asked questions about the menu, venue and service to ensure that this would be an appropriate location for our monthly trip. When we arrived I was told that I would be responsible for taking the orders for my group, which was odd but I did anyway. After submitting everyone's orders and expecting to join them for the remainder of the meal I was then pulled aside and taught how to use the debit machine, and instructed to go and take everyone's payment - yes, I was told that I had to go take payments instead of the staff member on duty. At this point I was shocked and didn't know what to say, I had never seen that in my life. After I took the payments I was sitting with my group when even more shockingly I was beckoned back to the food window where I was told what each dish was and the staff waited for me to deliver the plates of food to my group. They even showed me where I could get cutlery to deliver to them rather than stepping in. Confused and baffled we had lunch, I had every member of my group complain about the food, saying that it is not what it has been in the past. After this I had to go to the kitchen to retrieve take-out boxes and pack up the leftovers from my group. Again, I AM NOT A STAFF MEMBER - I have no food safe training, no waitress training and am not employed by this establishment, I was just there to take my group out for a nice lunch. All of this was happening while the staff member was chatting with other customers and the cook was ignoring the whole scene. Ill wrap up with this - the staff member said to me multiple times sorry to make you work, but were a family owned business so we can get away with it.` This experience was absolutely shocking and I am still speechless - I do not recommend, especially for...
Read moreCecil's Perogies participated in a promotional event in Kelowna called "Half Price Deals" We tried to redeem our voucher at Cecil's Perogies today and they would not honor it.
We know that some restaurants indicated the pass had to be printed in order to use it and it was written as such on the voucher itself. The Cecil's Perogies voucher does not have that written on it. We made a special trip there for lunch with a copy of the voucher loaded on my wife's phone. The person behind the register demanded that we had to leave and come back with a printed copy and said he does not have a printer at the restaurant.
We offered to bring a printed copy by later and he refused to give us our lunch order until we provided a paper copy first (our food was already prepared and sitting on the counter). We asked if we could e-mail the PDF to him directly or pay now and get refunded when we bring a copy later this afternoon. He started to yell at my wife and 1 year old son in front of a line up of customers so we were forced to leave without our lunch order.
Overall, this was a terrible experience and I hope this feedback is incorporated into whether or not Cecil's is permitted to participate in this year's event.
The food itself aside, the front of house staff could learn a lesson or two about the hospitality side of the...
Read moreI'm a DoorDash driver and I had a rough time at this place today. I’ve been on the road since the morning, so I really needed to use the bathroom when I got there to pick up an order. The guy at the counter said I had to buy something first before I could use the bathroom. I’ve never had to do this at other places—they usually just let drivers use the restroom or even give out free drinks or water.
I understand this can happen in some places. So, as I was in a hurry to deliver the order on time and really needed to go, I bought a soda pop. But then he told me I needed to order food instead. So, I ended up buying $24 worth of vegetable perogies just to use the bathroom. Finally, he gave me the key while giving me the instructions on how to use it.
I was there to provide them the service to deliver their food to customers, and it just felt really unfair to be treated like that. I never experienced such an encounter while doing the deliveries. The food was fine, but I wish they would treat delivery...
