BEWARE of going to this place! I know its by the mall/cinema and really tempting for a quick sushi stop. I was tempted to grab sushi just before the movies and currently I have missed 5 days of work because of TMI!! Diarrhea and food poisoning. So if you're wondering if it's worth it? I can assure you it's definitely not!!! I also called back to inform them that the sushi gave me food poisoning and they told me the sushi they served me WASN'T EVEN A WEEK OLD!!! I'm not culinary chef but Sushi's got to be fresher than that!! The girl totally dismissed my complaint and refused to let me talk to the manager.
Honestly at this point, while me and my boyfriend are bonding over food poisoning, diarrhea and how sushi out of vending machines wouldn't do this to us, I'll leave you my suggestions to make sure you don't end up like me is go try a different sushi place. There's bluetail which is always fresh, a little inconvenient by the location but I mean you wouldn't wanna spend the next 5 days near a toilet...
Read moreTo start with, my husband and I just moved here from Vancouver. We enjoy simple sushi without any frills at a reasonable cost. We decided to try Oka as it seemed to have the fare in which we are fond of and they delivered. We were thoroughly disappointed. We ordered very simple items. Two teriyaki chicken bento boxes that comes with California rolls and miso soups. Credit for the vegetables being fresh, but there was way too much cabbage in the mix. There was no flavour to the chicken teriyaki. It was like plain chicken, veggies and rice. I had to add a packaged sauce we had just for it to be not so bland. The California roll was uninspiring. Very basic and not even assembled well. The miso soup is pretty much the only thing that I ate entirely. But it's just a basic miso that you can get anywhere. I would expect to get something even better than this in a mall as an $8.99 special. Definitely NOT worth what...
Read moreService was disappointing to say the least. I have never come across a server who carried themselves in such an unfriendly manner which made me feel I was an inconveniences for coming in to support the business. As an avid connoisseur of Japanese cuisine and someone who has worked at one of the top Japanese restaurants on the east coast, I was entirely disappointed with my meal. Store bought ranch dressing for the salad? The size of the sashimi was a fraction of the size of all other restaurants I have eaten at in town. To sum it up, it felt as though the cooks have zero passion as minimal effort was made. As a server for over a decade, it killed me leave my first ever $0 tip. I certainly will never be back and do not recommend based on the environment in which the server created alone. I would suggest any other Japanese restaurant in Kelowna before going to this one as I have eaten...
